We are looking for a hands-on Team Lead to manage accounting operations for Canada-based clients.
This role is for professionals with prior experience in Canadian accounting who have directly worked on GST/PST/HST, Canadian taxes, and client-facing accounting operations.
If your experience is limited to general bookkeeping without Canadian accounting exposure, this role may not be the right fit.
Role Overview
You will lead a team of accounting professionals supporting Canadian clients, while owning delivery quality, reviewing work, managing client communication, and ensuring deadlines are met.
This is a high-ownership role requiring both technical accounting knowledge and people leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals (4–6 members)
• Review and ensure accuracy of bookkeeping, reconciliations, AP/AR, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Act as the primary point of contact for Canadian clients and independently manage client communication
• Review team deliverables and maintain strong quality standards
• Manage escalations, timelines, workload, and overall team performance
• Drive process improvements and maintain SOPs
• Train, mentor, and support team development
Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
• 5–8 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Team Lead with direct people management responsibility
• Prior experience working with Canadian clients and Canadian accounting workflows
• Hands-on experience with GST / PST / HST and familiarity with Canadian tax-related accounting processes
• Working understanding of Canadian accounting practices, including month-end accounting and financial reporting
• Experience in direct client communication and stakeholder management (email/calls/escalation handling)
• Strong working knowledge of:
QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Microsoft Excel
Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines independently
• Comfortable working in a full-time night shift: 9:30 PM IST – 6:00 AM IST
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to Canadian accounting standards
• Experience handling Canadian payroll, T4s, payroll deductions, or tax-related reconciliations
• Experience with Dext, Wagepoint, ADP Canada, or similar accounting tools
• Prior experience in accounting outsourcing or CPA firm environments
