Job Summary
The Mechanical CAD Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for electric vehicle systems, including battery packs, thermal systems, structural components, and integration assemblies. The ideal candidate should have strong CAD modeling skills, automotive engineering knowledge, and experience working in cross-functional engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for EV components and assemblies
- Support battery pack integration, thermal management systems, and structural packaging
- Create manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T implementation
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams during product development
- Support prototype builds, testing, and design validation activities
- Conduct design reviews and implement engineering changes
- Ensure compliance with automotive quality and safety standards
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, weight reduction, and cost efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or automotive product development
- Proficiency in:
- CATIA
- SolidWorks
- Siemens NX
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFM/DFA, and mechanical design principles
- Understanding of EV systems, battery packaging, and thermal management
- Experience with prototype development and manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with FEA/CFD tools is an advantage
Preferred Skills
- Automotive or EV industry experience
- Knowledge of aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, and composite design
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
