What to Expect
Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.
Our first focus goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.
We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.
Job Overview
As a Compliance Engineering Technician, you will be the backbone of our compliance lab operations. You will build and maintain test infrastructure, enforce lab quality and safety standards, and lead technician activities — ensuring our lab runs with the precision and discipline that regulatory certification demands.
How You Will Contribute
Lab Infrastructure & Test Fixtures
Design, fabricate, and maintain test fixtures, including electrical wiring, soldering, and plumbing work required for power hardware test setups.
Own lab layout and infrastructure — plan and execute space requirements, coordinate with contractors for build-out, utilities, and ongoing facility needs.
Test Equipment Operation
Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, data acquisition systems, and related instrumentation.
Quality Management & Safety
Team Leadership
Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of lab technicians, providing clear task assignments, hands-on guidance, and accountability.
What You Will Bring
We prioritize candidates who are hands-on, accountable, and take genuine pride in a well-run lab. You’re not just maintaining a space — you’re building the foundation that our certification work depends on.
Must-Have Requirements
Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent hands-on training, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on work experience in a test lab or manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to fabricate test fixtures, including hands-on electrical work (wiring, terminations, soldering, panel builds) and plumbing (fluid lines, fittings, pressure systems).
Hands-on experience operating test and measurement equipment: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, data loggers, and similar instrumentation.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in a compliance, certification, or regulatory test laboratory for power electronics, electrical equipment, or similar products.
If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.
