Role: HEOR Modeler
Education
- Master’s or PhD in Health Economics, Public Health, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Pharmacy, Economics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
Experience
- 5–10 years hands-on experience in HEOR modeling within:
- Pharmaceutical / Biotech companies
- HEOR consultancies
- CROs / Market Access agencies
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Excel-based economic modeling (advanced formulas, macros preferred).
- Experience with modeling and statistical tools, such as:
- R
- Python / VBA
- TreeAge
- WinBUGS / JAGS (for Bayesian analyses, desirable)
- Strong understanding of:
- HTA methods
- Economic evaluation principles
- Modeling best practices
Domain Knowledge
- Proven experience in one or more therapeutic areas (e.g., Oncology, Rare Diseases, Immunology, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Neurology).
- Strong understanding of payer evidence expectations across regions (US, EU, UK, APAC).
Key Responsibilities
Health Economic Modeling
- Design, develop, and validate health economic models, including:
- Cost-effectiveness models (CEA)
- Cost-utility models (CUA)
- Budget impact models (BIM)
- Cost-consequence models
- Develop decision-tree, Markov, partitioned survival, and patient-level simulation (microsimulation) models.
- Clearly document model structure, assumptions, data sources, and limitations in line with HTA expectations.
Evidence Integration
- Integrate clinical trial data, real-world evidence (RWE), network meta-analysis (NMA), indirect treatment comparisons (ITC), and epidemiology data into models.
- Collaborate with epidemiology, biostatistics, and RWE teams to ensure fit-for-purpose evidence selection.
- Conduct deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses, scenario analyses, and value-of-information analyses.
Market Access & HTA Support
- Support global and local HTA submissions (e.g., NICE, ICER, CADTH, G-BA, HAS, PBAC).
- Support pricing and reimbursement strategy, value dossiers, and payer value stories.
- Respond to HTA queries, critiques, and model validation requests.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, RWE, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Commercial teams.
- Provide strategic input into evidence generation plans and economic endpoints.
- Support client interactions, workshops, and payer-facing discussions (as applicable).
Quality & Governance
- Ensure compliance with ISPOR, CHEERS, NICE, and country-specific HTA guidelines.
- Perform internal quality checks, peer reviews, and model audits.
- Mentor junior HEOR analysts/modelers and contribute to capability building.
