Job Title: Material Picker

Reports to: Picking Supervisor

Department: Production
Classification: Non-Exempt

 

Summary: The Material Picker is responsible for accurately pulling, staging, and transporting raw materials from the warehouse to support production operations. This role ensures materials are selected according to work order requirements and delivered in a timely, safe, and organized manner to meet production schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where accuracy, safety, and teamwork are critical to success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment to move, stage, and transport raw materials.
  • Accurately pick raw materials from inventory as assigned by the department Lead or Supervisor.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of picked materials prior to staging.
  • Stage materials appropriately for delivery to production and pre-production areas.
  • Operate handheld scanners and inventory systems to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Communicate product or process issues promptly to the supervisor.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and safety briefings.
  • Participate in required food-safety, quality, and safety training.
  • Follow all safety, food safety, quality, and GMP requirements at all times.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from the supervisor and communicate effectively with other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, material handling, or forklift role preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment; certification required or obtained within a defined training period.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, safety guidelines, and job-related information in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand, walk, or sit while operating a forklift for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in product handling.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with other staff.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a warehouse and food manufacturing environment.
  • Regular exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, noise levels, powders, allergens, and food ingredients.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Regular bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting as part of material-handling activities.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment is required.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies.
  • May be required to work varying shifts, weekends, and extra time dependent on business needs.

Pay Range and Benefits

 

Pay Range: $17.00–$21.00 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and business needs.
