Minimum Qualifications:
● Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or Instructional II certificate within the subject
matter being taught
● Strong communication skills
● Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, instructional
delivery, leadership, and technical skills and the ability to utilize differentiated
instructional methods to engage students in positive learning experiences
● Critical thinking methodologies and problem-solving techniques
● Demonstrated leadership ability in working with students, staff, parents and
general public
● Required Clearances in accordance with School Code (Current Child Abuse, FBI
and Criminal Record required.
● Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
and acceptable
Goals:
To render professional dignity and service, observe a course of conduct consistent
with the Ethics of the Teaching Profession, and exert a cooperative influence toward
the pupils, the parents, and other school personnel
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated
2. Plans a program of study according to rules and regulations of the school district
that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the
students
3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon
request of immediate superior
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
5. Provide individual, group and classroom instruction in a manner that is
understandable to assigned students in accordance with the required curriculum
and to complete the assigned curriculum within the allotted time.

7. React and/or respond in a timely manner to student statements and questions
8. Maintain student discipline and an environment conducive to learning
9. Utilize effective teaching strategies and having the ability to change strategies as
necessary to be effective for all students in the class
10. Utilize required teaching mediums, supplies, books and aids
11. Evaluate, grade and record student work and/or progress
12. Communicate with parents to review students progress, problems and discipline
13. Make appropriate referrals for support services
14. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and , in
harmony with goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and
the like to communicate these objectives to students
15. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent
with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and
capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
16. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of
education and instructional goals and objectives
17. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress
reports as required
18. Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the
assistance of district specialists as required
19. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials and facilities
20. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy
and administrative regulation
21. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing
student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of
classroom behavior and procedure
22. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
23. Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related
purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under
reasonable terms
24. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
25. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
26. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
27. Recognize and react appropriately to disciplinary and emergency situations
28. Develop and produce daily lesson plans and required students records
29. Grow professionally by maintaining professional certifications, including earning
instructional 2 teaching certificate within first six (6) years of teaching as required
by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and remaining abreast of current
developments in education
30. Perform the work described herein without posing a direct threat to the health or
safety of himself/herself or others
Work Year:
Follows the schedule and workdays for all professional teaching staff.

Evaluation:
The building principal and/or Assistant Superintendent will complete the observation(s)
and evaluation(s) of performance in accordance with PDE guidelines.

Computer Skills:
Demonstrate proficiency with personal computers and programs such as, Microsoft
Office, spreadsheets, database, presentation programs, Google, Skyward, and IEP Writer.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rate, ratios,
and percent. Must have the ability to analyze various test scores.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to deal with multiple problems.
