About the role

Background The Earth System Complexity (ESC) research domain at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences is looking for a PostDoc to work on surface mass balance modeling. The position is part of the joint BMBF-funded project 'Alpine-Arctic Feedback and Resilience' (A2F2R), which aims to investigate the interactions between the Alpine and Arctic cryosphere. Your tasks: - Develop and apply a process-based surface mass balance model for glaciers and/or ice sheets - Assess the surface mass balance model performance using in-situ and satellite-based observations - Quantify the surface mass balance response to different climate forcing scenarios - Investigate the feedbacks between changes in the Alpine and Arctic cryosphere - Integrate the surface mass balance model within a coupled Earth system model framework - Present your research at international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
