Position Title: Payroll Supervisor
Location: Coeur d'Alene Corporate Office
Position Summary:
The Payroll Supervisor provides oversight for the corporate payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for all salaried employees in a multi jurisdiction environment. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for payroll operations, tax compliance, and related special projects, working closely with the Payroll Administrator and serving as a key liaison to accounting, HR, and third-party administrators.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Leads the salaried payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing across all jurisdictions.
- Supervises and develops the Payroll Administrator, setting quality standards and overseeing daily workflow.
- Reviews and approves payrolls, system updates, and masterfile changes to maintain data integrity and policy alignment.
- Oversees resolution of payroll discrepancies and ensures adherence to federal, state, provincial, and local tax requirements.
- Manages payroll‑related 401(k) administration, including contributions, compliance testing, and audit support.
- Oversees Canadian payroll compliance, including tax remittances, EHT filings, and cross‑border payroll coordination.
- Provides payroll data, reconciliations, and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Manages recurring payroll reporting and supports Accounting and Treasury with funding and reconciliation needs.
- Leads year‑end payroll activities, including fringe benefit reporting and W‑2/T4 accuracy.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of payroll processing, or related, experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll systems; experience managing TPA relationships preferred. ADP user experience strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, 401(k) plan compliance, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Ability to review, analyze, and approve the detailed work of others, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workflow to meet rigid payroll deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills preferred.
