About the role

Job Overview

Heartland is seeking a qualified professional to support the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) on Probate and TAAMS-related modernization efforts. This position provides technical, acquisition, administrative, and program coordination support to assist with planning, documentation, transition preparation, leadership engagement, and reporting activities.

The selected candidate will serve as a key liaison across leadership, acquisition, budget, technical offices, and external stakeholders in support of mission-critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the TAAMS recompete and other Probate-related initiatives, including conducting technical assessments, identifying system dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support transition and implementation planning for modernization efforts.
  • Assist with acquisition and budget support activities, including development of independent government estimates (IGEs), budget justifications, and acquisition documentation.
  • Coordinate with acquisition, budget, and technical offices to ensure timely preparation and submission of required materials.
  • Engage with the current vendor to identify issues, risks, and transition needs.
  • Prepare daily and weekly status reports, leadership briefings, talking points, and executive updates.
  • Review emails and internal materials to ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting.
  • Support communication and coordination across Indian Affairs and the broader Department of the Interior enterprise.
  • Participate in orientation and onboarding activities and demonstrate a clear understanding of contract requirements and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant and relevant experience performing technical, acquisition, program coordination, and reporting support in a federal environment.
  • Strong experience preparing briefings, reports, and executive-level communications.
  • Experience supporting acquisition planning, documentation development, and budget-related activities.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including leadership, technical teams, acquisition offices, and vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of the Interior, or similar federal programs.
  • Familiarity with TAAMS, probate-related initiatives, or related IT modernization efforts.
  • Experience advising on transition planning, technical risks, and program implementation strategies.
  • Prior experience supporting Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs), program managers, or executive leadership.

Work Schedule

This position is primarily virtual. Normal duty hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time, excluding federal holidays. Occasional support outside normal business hours (evenings or weekends) may be required based on program needs.

Security Requirement

All contractor personnel must successfully pass a background investigation and comply with applicable federal information and information system security requirements.
