About the role
Description
- Scheduling appointments with patients, physicians, and other medical staff members and insurance portals.
- Monitor and complete actions.
- Coordinating with insurance companies to verify eligibility, coverage criteria, and benefits.
- Schedule follow-up appointments or any testing needed after hospital discharge.
- Adding overnight consults
- Carrying and answering STEMI phone.
- Attaching hospital records to patient charts
- Faxing and sending medical records to our various departments for processing
- Coordinate the consults from our referring hospitals to our Physicians.
- Communicate RN questions and orders to the consulting Physician via Tiger Text.
- Delegate Physician to Physician calls.
- Enter all consults in Hybrid Chart for Physician and APPs to view.
- Records timely in EHR per the corporation’s policy and procedure in a timely manner
- Obtains clinical information required to request prior authorizations
- Create patient charts in ECW and enter all information

Summary
- Prior experience in a business office position with strong customer service background preferred. Education High School diploma.
- Minimum of two years' experience of pre-authorization or insurance verification with demonstrated knowledge of health insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s, and PPO's required.
- Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
- Ability to work effectively within the role independently and with other team members.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
- Ability to organize and complete work on time.
- Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology.
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer).
- Ability to receive instructions.
