Role Description The Health Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore, responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all SDC CIT members and participants. The Health Officer will oversee health and safety practices during events, workshops, and daily operations, including conducting risk assessments, monitoring compliance with health guidelines, and recommending improvements. This role involves coordinating health awareness initiatives, providing guidance on occupational and community health issues, and collaborating with organizers to integrate safety measures into all activities. The Health Officer will also handle incident reporting, maintain health and safety records, and serve as a key point of contact for health-related queries and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Occupational Health and Community Health to support the well-being of members and participants.
- Expertise in Workplace Safety and Construction Safety to assess risks, advise on preventive measures, and ensure safe setups for events and technical activities.
- Effective Communication skills to deliver clear guidance, conduct trainings, prepare reports, and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Relevant academic background in Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Nursing, or a related field.
- Ability to interpret and apply health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices in an institutional or organizational setting.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail in incident tracking and risk assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively on-site, manage multiple priorities, and respond calmly and efficiently to health or safety incidents.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, or health and safety (where applicable) are an advantage.
