Company Description The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is the key agency responsible for formulating and implementing the Government of India’s defence and security policies. It provides the policy framework, resources, and oversight needed for the Armed Forces and associated organisations to safeguard national security. Working under the leadership of the Defence Minister, the Ministry coordinates with Service Headquarters, inter-services organisations, defence production units, and research and development establishments. It ensures that approved defence programs are effectively executed within allocated resources and in line with government directives. The MoD comprises the Department of Defence, Department of Defence Production, Department of Defence Research & Development, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, and an integrated Finance Division.
Role Description The Health Officer will support the Ministry of Defence in planning, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs for personnel and facilities. This full-time, on-site role, based in Delhi, India, involves conducting health risk assessments, overseeing occupational and community health initiatives, and coordinating preventive health campaigns. The Health Officer will work closely with internal departments and external health agencies to ensure compliance with national health standards, workplace safety regulations, and defence-specific health protocols. Daily tasks include reviewing health data, conducting inspections of workplaces and construction sites, preparing reports and recommendations, and delivering trainings or briefings on health, hygiene, and safety practices. The role also includes contributing to policy inputs, emergency preparedness planning, and continuous improvement of health and safety systems within the Ministry’s areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Occupational Health and Workplace Safety, including health risk assessment, preventive measures, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Experience in Community Health programs, such as health promotion, disease prevention, and outreach within institutional or large organizational settings.
- Strong knowledge of Construction Safety practices, including site inspections, hazard identification, and coordination with engineering or infrastructure teams.
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, deliver trainings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Recognized degree in Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health, or a related health discipline; advanced certifications in occupational or industrial health and safety are an advantage.
- Familiarity with Indian public health regulations, governmental procedures, and health surveillance systems; experience in defence or other uniformed services environments is desirable.
- Proven ability to work in structured, protocol-driven settings, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high ethical and professional standards.
