Salary:       Circa £55,000

Benefits:     Include flexible working and 33 days annual leave per annum + UK Bank Holidays

Contract terms: Full-time, 2-year fixed term KSS AHSN Ltd Terms (trading as Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex)

Location: Hybrid (Principal office: The Beehive, Gatwick, RH6 0PA) with occasional travel across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and beyond.

Role Overview

This is a new role in the Company that has arisen due to the Company’s growth and success in winning new contracts. The Commercial Manager plays a central role in developing and contracting new business opportunities that align with the strategic goals of the organisation. This dual-function role encompasses both commercial oversight and contractual development, ensuring effective opportunity conversion, legal contracting, reporting, and cross functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities


Lead Qualification & Opportunity Development

  • Receive business development (BD) leads from the EMG / DDAI Director.
  • Use BD Agent tools and CRM systems to qualify the lead:
  • Assess strategic alignment and prioritization.
  • Integrate insights from previous customer interactions.
  • Map key KSS–customer relationships.

Customer Proposal Management

  • Compile tailored proposals for clients that include:
  • Value proposition materials.
  • Insights from across the organization.
  • Recommendations for next steps including connection to internal specialists.

Opportunity Conversion Support

  • Work with the CCO, DDAI Director and internal specialists to advance leads:
  • Draft Memoranda of Understanding / Heads of Terms.
  • Create detailed Statements of Work with delivery teams.
  • Evaluate delivery options and feasibility.

Contracting & Legal Coordination

  • Collaborate with the CCO / DDAI Director to:
  • Understand the commercial implications of each opportunity.
  • Draft legal contracts and supporting documents.
  • Engage outsourced legal teams for complex contract matters.
  • Ensure contracts are compliant and fit for purpose.

Commercial Handover & Execution

  • Oversee transition of signed deals to delivery:
  • Clarify billing structures, VAT treatment and cost flows.
  • Ensure CRM and reporting systems are updated accurately.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Managing the holding of fortnightly Business Development meetings.
  • Produce and maintain key reports:
  • BD pipeline reports for EMG and Board.
  • Weekly BD reports for internal meetings.
  • Cash flow and revenue recognition support for finance.

Process Improvement & Systems Integration

  • Help embed efficient, scalable BD contracting processes.
  • Support CRM rollout and ensure system meets BD needs.
  • Train team members on BD processes and tools across the business.

Key Outcomes & Success Measures

  • Effective Contract Management
  • Risk control including the identification of financial and commercial risks early and the mitigation of those risks through robust commercial processes.
  • Customer and Stakeholder satisfaction through maintaining strong and supportive relationships.
  • Team and Process Efficiency including the streamlining of commercial processes
  • Timely delivery of reports to leadership teams.
