The Role:
The Group Class Fitness Instructor is responsible for developing a safe and effective exercise program for our senior population, to increase their mobility and functionality, also to create reports that measure patients’ progress in all areas related to the program and classes.
What You’ll Do:
Health by Design is seeking a part-time Group Class Fitness Instructor / Certified Personal Trainer to join our dynamic team! This individual will develop and lead exercise programs at two (2) of our primary care clinics located in the Westover Hills (West) and Roosevelt (South) areas of San Antonio.
These clinics care for a truly unique patient population of retired First Responders and their dependents. We offer the flexibility for you to provide different types of exercise classes, as long as they can be modified as needed, for our geriatric patient population; Bodypump, Yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, Strength & Mobility, etc. are just some of the programs we could consider for this role!
Three (3), 2-hour classes per week for a total of 6-hours a week. Our current schedule is Monday from 12:30pm-2:30pm/class from 1:00pm-2:00pm (Westover Hills), Wednesday from 1:00pm -3:00pm/class from 1:30pm-2:30pm (Roosevelt) and Thursday from 12:30pm-2:30pm/class from 1:00pm-2:00pm (Westover Hills). We may have some flexibility with the schedule, as long as classes are between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop mobility, balance, strength, stretching and functionality classes
- Create and deliver classes that increase mobility and functionality
- Ability to connect with a senior population
- Evaluate patients to determine specific needs
- Create and maintain reports that measure patients’ and program success and progress
- Consult with all members of the Clinical Care team patients’ progress
- Maintain accurate records of class schedule and attendance at each class
- Assist with promotion of classes
- Create and maintain a contact plan with patients to encourage participation
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Master or bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science
- 2-4 years’ recent experience required; experience conducting classes in a group setting is also required!
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) prefered
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to create and teach exercise classes for patients
