Role Overview
TESSOL is looking for a senior operations leader to manage and scale its pan-India service operations, cold room setup and installation projects, customer site execution, and operate business across locations.
This role will be responsible for ensuring smooth execution of service delivery, installation, commissioning, maintenance, uptime, and field operations across India. The incumbent will also oversee cold room setup projects, vendor and contractor coordination, service teams, customer escalations, and operating performance across multiple sites.
Production and factory operations will form a smaller part of the role, approximately 15% of the incumbent’s time, while the majority of the role, approximately 85%, will focus on service operations, cold room installation, field execution, projects, and managing the pan-India operate business.
The role requires a hands-on, well-spoken, process-driven, and execution-focused professional who can operate in a fast-growing startup environment and build scalable systems for rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities
Pan-India Service Operations
· Lead and manage service operations across India, ensuring timely response, high service quality, customer satisfaction, and operational reliability.
· Oversee field service teams, service partners, technicians, contractors, and vendors across multiple regions.
· Create systems for service planning, preventive maintenance, breakdown response, escalation management, spare parts availability, and service reporting.
· Ensure service SLAs, uptime commitments, turnaround times, and customer expectations are consistently met.
· Build dashboards and review mechanisms to monitor service performance across locations.
Cold Room Setup, Installation & Commissioning
· Lead end-to-end execution of cold room setup and installation projects across customer sites and company locations.
· Manage site readiness, project planning, installation schedules, vendor coordination, contractor management, commissioning, handover, and post-installation support.
· Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and as per quality standards.
· Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, civil contractors, electrical teams, refrigeration vendors, customers, and local site teams.
· Develop standard processes for installation, commissioning checklists, documentation, customer handover, and site-level compliance.
Operate Business Management
· Manage the pan-India operate business, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning across customer locations and operating sites.
· Monitor site performance, resource deployment, equipment uptime, service quality, operating costs, and customer escalations.
· Drive consistency in execution standards across all operating locations.
· Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions quickly.
· Build scalable processes to support the growth of the operate business across multiple cities and regions.
Project Execution & Expansion
· Lead operations-related projects, including new site launches, customer deployments, cold room installations, capacity expansion, process improvement, and service network development.
· Work closely with sales, customer success, supply chain, production, finance, quality, and leadership teams to ensure smooth execution.
· Track project timelines, costs, risks, dependencies, and execution milestones.
· Ensure strong coordination between customer requirements and internal delivery capability.
Production & Factory Operations
· Oversee production and factory operations as required, with this forming approximately 15% of the role.
· Ensure production support is aligned with service, installation, and project requirements.
· Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely availability of equipment, components, spares, and materials required for installations and operations.
· Support process improvements, production planning, quality control, and dispatch coordination where needed.
Purchase, Vendor & Contractor Management
· Oversee vendor coordination related to cold room installations, service operations, spare parts, project execution, and site work.
· Support purchase planning, vendor development, negotiations, and supplier performance management.
· Ensure material, equipment, and spares availability for service operations and installation projects.
· Build reliable vendor and contractor networks across India to support rapid scale-up.
Team Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and develop service, installation, project, operations, and field teams.
· Build a performance-oriented culture with strong ownership, discipline, accountability, communication, and execution focus.
· Ensure ground teams are trained, equipped, and aligned with company standards.
· Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional business heads to drive execution.
Key Performance Indicators: What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by the candidate’s ability to scale pan-India service operations, execute cold room installations efficiently, and improve reliability across the operate business.

· Service performance: Improved service response times, reduced breakdown resolution time, better SLA adherence, higher equipment uptime, and stronger customer satisfaction.
· Cold room installation execution: Timely completion of cold room setup, installation, commissioning, customer handover, and site readiness milestones.
· Operate business reliability: Smooth functioning of operating sites across India, improved uptime, fewer escalations, better site-level discipline, and consistent service quality.
· Project delivery: On-time and within-budget execution of installation, expansion, and deployment projects.
· Customer satisfaction: Reduction in customer escalations, faster issue closure, improved communication, and stronger customer confidence in execution.
· Vendor and contractor performance: Better vendor reliability, stronger contractor management, improved cost control, and timely availability of materials and services.
· Scalability: Implementation of SOPs, dashboards, preventive maintenance systems, installation checklists, escalation matrices, and review mechanisms that support rapid growth.
· Team effectiveness: Improved accountability, ownership, training, communication, and execution discipline across field, service, installation, and operations teams.
· Production coordination: Smooth alignment between production, dispatch, service, installation, and project requirements.
· Cost control: Better control over service costs, installation costs, operating costs, spares consumption, project budgets, and vendor pricing.
Required Skills & Experience
· The candidate should have prior experience in service operations, field operations, installation projects, cold room or infrastructure setup, manufacturing, production coordination, vendor management, and multi-location operations.
· Experience in cold chain, refrigeration, HVAC, industrial projects, logistics infrastructure, equipment installation, manufacturing, or related sectors will be preferred.
· Prior experience in a startup, high-growth company, or fast-scaling operating environment will be an added advantage.
· Strong verbal communication and presentation skills are essential. The candidate should be well-spoken, confident, and capable of interacting with senior leadership, customers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
· The candidate should ideally be Mumbai-based and willing to travel frequently across India.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be someone who:
· Has 10–15 years of relevant experience in service operations, projects, installations, manufacturing, or multi-location operations.
· Has managed pan-India or regional field operations.
· Has experience in cold room setup, installation, commissioning, service delivery, or infrastructure project execution.
· Can manage customer sites, service teams, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
· Can balance planning with hands-on execution.
· Is comfortable working in a startup environment with ambiguity, speed, and high ownership.
· Can scale operations from current levels to the next stage of growth.
· Has strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
· Is process-oriented but flexible enough to operate in a dynamic business environment.
· Is based in Mumbai
· Is willing to travel frequently across India.
Qualification
· Engineering degree preferred.
· MBA or operations / supply chain / project management qualification will be an added advantage.
· Prior experience in cold chain, refrigeration, HVAC, industrial projects, logistics infrastructure, manufacturing, automotive, electronics, or related sectors will be useful.
