Job Title: PortCo Head of Value Creation (PE-Backed)
(Confidential Mandate)
The Situation: We manage the continuous operator pipeline for several middle-market Private Equity funds. Because the demand for PortCo value-creation leaders far outpaces the supply, we are currently gating and benchmarking our Q2 operator bench for upcoming, unlisted mandates.
The funds we work with acquire founder-led businesses with strong top-line momentum, but require a drop-in operator to take immediate accountability for the P&L, drive 300 to 500 basis points of EBITDA expansion, professionalize the C-suite, and architect the asset for exit within 36-60 months.
The Disqualifiers (Please read carefully):
- Pure Advisory: If your background is strictly strategy consulting (MBB) without subsequent, on-the-ground P&L ownership, you will not pass the institutional screen.
- Growth at All Costs: If your track record is purely scaling top-line revenue at venture-backed startups without having to ruthlessly optimize margins or execute restructuring, this mandate will break you.
- The "We" Problem: If your resume speaks in generalities about "leading transformations" but you cannot isolate your specific, quantified impact on a company's Enterprise Value, do not proceed.
The Operator We Need:
- A structural thinker with a bias for violent execution. (Ideally, Tier-1 strategy background followed by 3+ years as a Scale-up COO, VP of Ops, or PortCo leader).
- A specialist in the "Duality" of Private Equity: You can scale revenue and cut operational bloat simultaneously.
- You are comfortable operating lean. You do not need an army of analysts to make a decision; you need data, instinct, and accountability.
