Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Supply Chain Management located in Bengaluru South. The Head of Supply Chain Management will oversee and manage the end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement and inventory planning, logistics optimization, vendor management, and operational excellence. The role involves leading, mentoring, and developing a dynamic team to meet organizational goals. Ensuring cost-effective sourcing strategies, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely fulfillment are key responsibilities. Collaboration with multiple stakeholders to drive efficiencies and improve the delivery ecosystem will also be a focus.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Supply Chain Management and Procurement practices, with a proven ability to create efficient processes and ensure vendor compliance.
- Strong skills in Operations Management, including inventory planning, logistics, and resource allocation to optimize the supply chain.
- Proven Team Leadership capabilities, including mentoring, building cohesive teams, and managing cross-functional collaboration.
- Customer Service orientation, ensuring timely and effective fulfillment to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in retail, grocery, or FMCG industries and familiarity with sustainable or organic practices is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy that supports eCommerce fulfillment, store replenishment, and distribution to third-party distributors and franchises.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team across fulfillment, distribution, and procurement functions.
- Set long-term and short-term goals for the supply chain department aligned with business objectives and growth targets.
- Fulfillment Center Operations:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fulfillment center, ensuring optimal efficiency in order processing, inventory management, and shipping.
- Implement and optimize workflows and processes within the fulfillment center to minimize errors, improve turnaround times, and reduce costs.
- Manage workforce planning for the fulfillment center, including staffing, training, and performance management.
- Work closely with the eCommerce team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, meeting customer expectations.
- Inventory and Demand Planning:
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to ensure product availability for eCommerce, retail stores, and franchise partners.
- Use data-driven insights to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels at both fulfillment centers and retail locations.
- Monitor stock levels and work with suppliers to replenish stock in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Implement inventory control measures to prevent stockouts, overstocking, and product obsolescence.
- Supplier & Vendor Relationship Management:
- Manage relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and third-party vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Oversee the quality assurance process for incoming products, ensuring all items meet company standards before distribution.
- Distribution & Franchise Support:
- Manage the distribution network to ensure products are delivered on time to both retail locations and franchise partners.
- Develop strategies to optimize transportation and reduce costs in product distribution to franchises and third-party distributors.
- Support franchisees with inventory management and product availability to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and finance teams to align supply chain initiatives with overall business goals and promotional strategies.
- Work with the IT team to ensure that supply chain technologies (ERP, WMS, TMS) are integrated and functioning optimally.
- Partner with store operations to ensure timely replenishment and support for physical retail locations.
- Logistics and Transportation Management:
- Oversee the transportation network, ensuring the timely and cost-efficient delivery of products across eCommerce, stores, and external distributors.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to improve delivery performance and reduce shipping costs.
- Implement strategies to enhance last-mile delivery for eCommerce customers and franchisees.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Regularly review supply chain performance, key metrics (e.g., inventory turnover, order accuracy, lead time), and operational costs to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide executive-level reporting on supply chain performance, including fulfillment center efficiency, product availability, and supplier performance.
- Use data to make informed decisions and adjustments to optimize the entire supply chain process.
- Compliance, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies related to product sourcing, storage, and distribution.
- Monitor supply chain risks (e.g., supplier issues, transportation delays, inventory challenges) and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and innovation in supply chain processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years (Grocery, food, FMCG and any FMCG Stores ) of experience in supply chain management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong experience in fulfillment center management, eCommerce logistics, and product distribution to franchises and third-party distributors.
- Proven track record of leading large, complex supply chain operations across multiple channels (eCommerce, retail, and franchise/distribution).
- Expertise in inventory management, demand forecasting, procurement, logistics, and supply chain technology.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using data to drive decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
