Position Overview:
The Head of Supply Chain – India is a senior leadership role with full accountability for the end-to-end supply chain strategy, performance, and transformation across India.
This position oversees all aspects of the supply chain ecosystem—including organizational capability, infrastructure, systems, processes, and service delivery—ensuring alignment with both country business objectives and regional/global priorities.
Reporting administratively to the Managing Director, India, this role is a key member of the India Leadership Team, contributing directly to business strategy, commercial success, and operational excellence.
Functionally, the role reports to the APAC Supply Chain Director and partners closely with the regional Supply Chain Centre of Excellence and global supply chain leadership to drive standardization, scalability, and best practice adoption.
The role leads a complex operating environment comprising internal teams, manufacturing sites, distribution networks, and third-party partners.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Supply Chain Leadership
Provide strategic and operational leadership across all supply chain functions in India, including:
- QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment)
- Regulatory Affairs
- Procurement
- Planning
- Inbound Logistics
- Quality
- Manufacturing
- Warehousing
- Outbound Transport
- Customer Service
Own the integration and performance of the full value chain, ensuring seamless coordination across functions and stakeholders.
Strategy & Transformation
- Define and execute the India supply chain strategy aligned with business growth ambitions
- Drive transformation initiatives across network design, digitalization, and operating model optimization
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the make vs. buy / in-house vs. outsourced footprint
Performance & Value Delivery
- Own and deliver on key performance indicators across:
- Safety & compliance
- Cost competitiveness
- Inventory optimization & working capital
- Service levels & customer satisfaction
- Strategic projects and continuous improvement
- Build a performance-driven culture with strong governance, visibility, and accountability
Leadership & Organization
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, future-ready supply chain organization
- Lead through influence across a matrix environment (country, regional, and global stakeholders)
- Strengthen capabilities in planning, operations, and supply chain excellence
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management
- Act as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and commercial leadership
- Collaborate closely with regional and global supply chain teams to drive alignment and leverage scale
- Manage key external stakeholders including suppliers, logistics providers, and regulatory bodies
Role Requirements:
This role requires a seasoned supply chain leader with a strong track record of delivering business impact in complex, fast-evolving environments.
Leadership Profile
- Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline
- Proven ability to lead large, multi-functional teams and influence across a matrix organization
- Strong change agent with demonstrated success in transformation and continuous improvement
- Commercially savvy, with the ability to balance customer expectations, cost structures, and operational capabilities
Experience:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain leadership roles
- Broad, hands-on exposure across multiple supply chain functions (planning, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, etc.)
- Proven experience in distribution and network operations
- Experience in chemicals, ingredients, or related industries strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in leading change, transformation, and performance improvement initiatives
- Experience managing complex supplier and customer ecosystems
Education & Skill:
- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
- Fluent in English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage
