About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Structure to lead the structural engineering function for a well-established manufacturing company in the refractory and industrial materials sector.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for structural analysis, design, technical reviews, and execution support for EPC and industrial projects. The role will ensure that all structural designs are safe, cost-effective, compliant, and delivered within project timelines.
The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures and strong experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
Candidates with prior experience in EPC companies will be strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Engineering Leadership
- Lead and manage the structural engineering team for EPC projects.
- Oversee structural analysis and design of steel and RCC structures.
- Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices.
Design & Technical Reviews
- Prepare and review structural design calculations and material requisitions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes such as IS, AISC, Eurocode, BS, and client specifications.
- Review vendor drawings and technical submissions.
- Identify design risks and propose practical engineering solutions.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, procurement, and construction teams.
- Support estimation, procurement, and project execution activities.
- Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables as per schedule.
Construction Support
- Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction and erection.
- Resolve structural design issues encountered during execution.
Client & Team Management
- Participate in design review meetings, HAZOPs, and client coordination meetings.
- Mentor and develop team members.
Must Have Requirements
Structural Design Experience
15+ years of experience in structural engineering for EPC or industrial projects.
Strong expertise in steel and reinforced concrete structural design.
Proven experience leading structural engineering teams.
Industry Experience
Prior experience in EPC companies is strongly preferred.
Exposure to industrial, infrastructure, power, oil & gas, water, or process plant projects.
Software Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- STAAD Pro
- ETABS
- SAFE
- SAP2000
- AutoCAD
- Revit
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of international design codes such as IS, AISC, Eurocode, and BS.
Familiarity with fabrication and construction practices.
Communication
Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Nice to Have
Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
Experience in refractory, metals, cement, or heavy industrial projects.
