JOB DESCRIPTION – Head of Projects
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Head of Projects to lead all facility expansion projects including design, construction, and commissioning of manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, corporate offices, and specialized aerospace infrastructure. You will manage end-to-end project execution from concept to completion, ensuring world class construction practices, cost optimization, and timely delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards for aerospace manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Execution:
• Lead and manage all infrastructure projects including Greenfield and Brownfield factory expansions, corporate offices, testing facilities, and specialized aerospace installations.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously with effective prioritization and resource allocation.
• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements for all infrastructure initiatives.
• Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of all projects with zero compromise on quality and safety.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Safety) to align infrastructure with operational requirements.
Civil & Structural Engineering:
• Oversee design, construction, and commissioning of all civil structures including factory buildings, testing bays, storage facilities, and support infrastructure.
• Ensure structural integrity and compliance with aerospace manufacturing
requirements.
• Manage foundation works, RCC structures, steel fabrication, and pre-engineered buildings (PEB)
• Review and approve structural designs, drawings, and specifications.
MEP & HVAC Systems:
• Design and implement MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems for manufacturing facilities and corporate offices.
• Oversee HVAC systems for cleanrooms, controlled environments, and climate sensitive operations.
• Ensure adequate electrical infrastructure for high-power manufacturing equipment and testing facilities.
• Manage fire safety systems, water supply, drainage, compressed air, and utility
systems.
Cleanroom & Specialized Environments:
• Design and construct ISO-certified cleanrooms for composite manufacturing, propulsion assembly, and avionics integration
• Ensure compliance with aerospace cleanroom standards (ISO Class 7/8 or
better)
• Manage air filtration, positive pressure systems, contamination control, and
environmental monitoring.
PESO Compliance & Safety:
• Ensure compliance with PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation) regulations for storage and handling of hazardous materials, propellants, and explosives.
• Coordinate with PESO authorities for approvals, inspections, and licensing.
• Implement safety protocols, fire protection systems, and emergency response
infrastructure.
Cost Management & Procurement:
• Prepare, review, and vet Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for all construction and
infrastructure projects
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets
• Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to achieve best rates without
compromising quality
• Manage vendor empanelment, qualification, and performance evaluation
Interior Design & Space Planning:
• Oversee interior design and fit outs for corporate offices, labs, control rooms,
and administrative spaces.
• Manage industrial layout planning for manufacturing floors, assembly areas, and
testing bays.
• Optimize space utilization for workflow efficiency and safety compliance.
• Coordinate furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E) procurement and installation.
Machine Installation & Industrial Infrastructure:
• Plan and execute machine installation projects including CNC equipment, composite autoclaves, testing rigs, and specialized manufacturing systems.
• Coordinate civil works, foundation design, and utility connections for heavy
machinery.
• Ensure proper levelling, vibration isolation, and environmental controls for
precision equipment.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management:
• Interface with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, PMCs, and
contractors.
• Manage relationships with government authorities for approvals, clearances,
and inspections.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors for installation requirements and technical
specifications.
• Ensure contractor compliance with safety standards, labor laws, and
environmental regulations.
Documentation & Compliance:
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation including drawings, approvals,
contracts, and completion certificates.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety norms, environmental
regulations, and aerospace standards.
• Manage statutory approvals: building permits, environmental clearances, PESO
licenses, fire NOCs.
Required Qualifications:
Essential:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree or additional
certifications (PMP, LEED, etc.) preferred.
• 14 - 18 years of progressive experience in project management, infrastructure
development, and construction.
• Proven track record handling Greenfield and Brownfield factory projects in
manufacturing/industrial sectors.
• Deep expertise in Civil, Structural, MEP, and HVAC design and construction
• Hands-on experience with cleanroom design and construction (ISO Class 7/8 or
better)
• Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, cost estimation, vendor negotiation, and
contract management.
• Knowledge of industrial layout planning, machine installation, and equipment
commissioning.
• Strong understanding of building codes, fire safety, structural standards, and
statutory compliance.
• Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Pharma, Semiconductor, or High-Tech
Manufacturing industries.
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing requirements: vibration isolation,
contamination control, ESD protection.
• Experience with pre-engineered buildings (PEB), steel structures, and modular
construction.
