Position Title: Head of School Director Academics
Reports To: Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Location: Sarjapur, Bengaluru
Job Purpose
The Head of School provides strategic, instructional, and operational leadership to ensure the continuous growth, excellence, and smooth day-to-day running of Indus International School, Bengaluru. As the institutional leader, the individual will uphold the school's core philosophy of creating "leaders of tomorrow" by seamlessly integrating top-tier IB academic standards, robust pastoral care, efficient administration, and transparent parent relations into a cohesive, high-performing ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Excellence & Instructional Leadership
- Curriculum Oversight: Ensure the rigorous and authentic implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework across PYP, MYP, and DP.
- Faculty Development: Oversee the recruitment, mentorship, and continuous professional development of international and local teaching staff, driving a culture of research-backed pedagogy.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor student learning outcomes, standardized assessment data, and university placement trajectories to maintain the school’s high global standing.
- Accreditation: Lead the school confidently through mandatory IB evaluation and re-authorization cycles.
2. Operational & Administrative Management
- Daily Operations: Direct the day-to-day functioning of the campus, ensuring all departments (academic, pastoral care, admissions, transport, catering, facilities, and IT) run at peak efficiency.
- Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with the finance team to manage the campus budget, allocate resources effectively, and optimize operational expenditure without compromising quality.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to national/local educational regulations, health and safety codes, and child protection protocols.
3. Pastoral Care & Student Well-being
- Holistic Environment: Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive school culture that prioritizes the mental, physical, and emotional health of both day-boarders and weekly/full boarders.
- Leadership Development: Champion the integration of the school's signature leadership curriculum into regular student life, empowering student councils and service-learning projects.
- Behavioral Frameworks: Oversee restorative justice frameworks and positive behavior interventions, ensuring disciplinary actions are fair, transparent, and aligned with school values.
4. Parent & Community Relations
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary face and voice of the campus, maintaining an open-door policy and building trust with the parent community.
- Communication Channels: Establish clear, proactive, and transparent communication protocols regarding school updates, academic changes, and student progress.
- Conflict Resolution: Address complex parent grievances or concerns with high emotional intelligence, empathy, and a solution-oriented approach.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a relevant academic discipline. A dedicated school leadership certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 10–12 years of leadership experience in a premium IB/ international school environment, with at least 3–5 years acting as a Head of School, Vice Principal, or Principal.
- IB Familiarity: Deep working knowledge and direct experience managing an all-IB continuum school.

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Head of School based in Bengaluru. The Head of School will oversee the academic, pastoral, and administrative operations of the school, ensuring the highest standards of education and leadership excellence. Daily responsibilities include curriculum planning, supervising faculty, fostering a positive learning environment, leading strategic initiatives, and engaging with parents and the broader school community to maintain alignment with the school's mission and vision.
Qualifications
- Experience and expertise in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development
- Strong skills in Team-Building and Communication
- Background and knowledge in IB Education
- Proven ability to lead and inspire faculty, students, and administrative teams
- Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a related field; advanced degrees like PhD are highly desirable
- Experience in an international school environment is a plus

7+ years in a senior leadership role in a similar setting
