About the Role
Xtrawrkx is hiring on behalf of one of our clients for the role of Head of R&D. We are looking for a seasoned professional who has successfully built 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers from the ground up.
The ideal candidate should also bring strong experience in value addition and product enhancement for vehicles already launched in the market. This role will be responsible for leading the entire R&D function, driving innovation, and ensuring successful product development and improvement. The position reports directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and concept development to production
- Drive design, engineering, prototyping, validation, and testing of 2W & 3W vehicles
- Spearhead product improvement and value engineering initiatives for existing products in production
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, performance enhancement, and innovation
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing R&D team
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations to ensure seamless execution
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry requirements
- Introduce and implement new technologies, tools, and best practices to strengthen product competitiveness
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in automotive R&D
- Proven track record of developing 2-wheelers and/or 3-wheelers from scratch
- Strong exposure to the EV domain (preferred)
- Hands-on experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- Deep expertise in vehicle design, validation, testing, and production processes
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities
