Position Overview
The Head of Quality Control will be responsible for leading the entire quality function across manufacturing operations for electrical equipment. This role requires a seasoned quality leader with a strong electrical engineering foundation and proven experience in quality systems, process excellence, regulatory compliance, and team leadership.
The position demands strategic oversight along with hands-on execution to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to global standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and drive the overall quality strategy aligned with business goals
- Establish a culture of zero-defect manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team across functions
2. Quality Control & Assurance
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection systems
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, specifications, and testing protocols
- Implement advanced quality tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, FMEA, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis
3. Compliance & Certification
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as:
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
- Industry-specific standards (IEC, BIS, CE, UL as applicable)
- Manage internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of observations
4. Customer Quality Management
- Lead customer complaint handling and resolution
- Drive customer satisfaction improvement initiatives
- Act as the primary interface for quality with key customers
5. Process Improvement (Lean & Operational Excellence)
- Drive lean manufacturing practices within quality processes
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
- Ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of KPIs
6. Supplier Quality Management
- Develop and monitor supplier quality systems
- Conduct supplier audits and ensure compliance
- Drive vendor improvement programs and quality performance tracking
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely quality reporting to management
- Maintain all documentation as per audit and compliance requirements
- Develop dashboards for tracking quality metrics (PPM, Rejection Rate, COPQ, etc.)
8. Risk Management
- Identify potential quality risks and implement preventive mechanisms
- Ensure robust failure analysis and corrective actions
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in rejection rates (internal & external)
- Improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY)
- Reduction in Customer Complaints / PPM
- Audit compliance score (Internal & External)
- Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Supplier quality performance
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
Experience:
- 20+ years of experience in quality function within electrical equipment manufacturing
- Proven experience in handling large-scale manufacturing quality operations
- Strong exposure to transformers, switchgear, cables, or similar electrical products
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in quality tools & methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, TQM)
- Strong knowledge of testing standards and electrical specifications
- Experience in ERP/MIS systems and quality reporting tools

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
