Our client looking for a seasoned procurement leader to head sourcing and supply strategy for Edible Oils & Staples. This role will be responsible for driving cost efficiency, ensuring supply continuity, and building strategic vendor partnerships across domestic and global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement for key categories including edible oils (palm, sunflower, soybean, etc.) and staple commodities (rice, wheat, pulses, sugar, etc.)
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and market dynamics
- Track global commodity markets, price trends, and geopolitical factors impacting supply and pricing
- Drive cost optimization initiatives including contract negotiations, hedging strategies, and alternate sourcing
- Build and manage strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers, traders, and millers
- Ensure consistent quality, compliance, and adherence to food safety standards
- Collaborate with supply chain, production, finance, and sales teams for demand planning and inventory optimization
- Lead risk management strategies to mitigate supply disruptions and price volatility
- Manage procurement budgets, forecasting, and reporting
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing procurement team
Key Requirements
- 12–18 years of experience in procurement within FMCG / food / agri-commodities, with strong exposure to edible oils and staples
- Deep understanding of commodity markets, import/export dynamics, and pricing mechanisms
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management
- Experience working with global suppliers and traders is highly preferred
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make quick decisions
- Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement tools
