Role Description The Head of Procurement is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for leading and optimizing the company’s end-to-end procurement function across multiple business units and geographies. This role oversees the development and implementation of procurement strategies, policies, and processes to ensure cost-effective, quality-driven, and timely sourcing of goods and services. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing supplier relationships, evaluating vendor performance, negotiating contracts, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to understand demand, forecast requirements, and align procurement with business objectives. The Head of Procurement will analyze market trends, monitor risk, and drive continuous improvement in purchasing practices, compliance, and governance. This position also involves building and mentoring a high-performing procurement team, implementing digital tools where relevant, and collaborating with leadership to support strategic initiatives and long-term growth.
Qualifications
- Strong supplier-focused capabilities, including Supplier Management and Supplier Evaluation, with a track record of building reliable, long-term vendor partnerships.
- Proven expertise in Contract Negotiation to secure favorable terms, manage risk, and ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Hands-on experience in Purchasing and Procurement, covering strategic sourcing, category management, and cost optimization across multiple spend categories.
- Extensive background in leading procurement teams and functions in a diversified or multi-sector organization, preferably within a conglomerate or large enterprise.
- Excellent analytical, financial, and data-driven decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret spend analytics and market intelligence.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP platforms, and digital tools that enhance transparency, efficiency, and control.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; a master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are an advantage.
