POSITION SUMMARY
The Plant Head is the operational authority at the manufacturing facility, holding complete end-to-end accountability for the plant’s performance across production, quality, safety, people, and financials. The incumbent will drive the plant’s strategic and operational agenda—building systems, teams, and processes that deliver consistent manufacturing excellence while scaling capacity in line with the company’s growth trajectory. This role is the principal bridge between the corporate leadership and the plant, translating business strategy into shop-floor outcomes and ensuring the facility operates as a best-in-class manufacturing unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plant Operations & Strategy
· Hold full accountability for the plant’s overall performance—production output, quality, delivery, cost, safety, and people—and drive continuous improvement across all functions.
· Act as the strategic link between corporate leadership and plant execution, ensuring production plans are aligned with business goals, sales forecasts, and customer commitments.
· Design and institutionalize end-to-end production workflows—from raw material inflow to final dispatch—establishing robust systems that sustain quality and throughput at scale.
· Champion a manufacturing excellence culture by institutionalizing Lean practices (5S, Kaizen, RCA), driving waste elimination, cycle time reduction, and OEE improvement across all production lines.
· Lead capacity planning and drive all technical and facility Capex decisions—evaluating, justifying, and commissioning new machinery and infrastructure to support growth.
· Ensure consistently high customer satisfaction by meeting all quality, delivery, and fulfillment commitments without exception.
Financials & Cost Control
· Own and manage the full plant P&L—including the manufacturing operations budget across all departments—ensuring cost discipline and financial accountability at the facility level.
· Develop and drive a structured Cost Reduction & Productivity Improvement roadmap, targeting measurable gains in material utilization, labour efficiency, and overhead absorption.
· Define, track, and review key plant performance metrics—including OEE, throughput, rejection rates, on-time delivery, and per-unit cost—and drive corrective action on deviations.
Supply Chain & Coordination
· Oversee supply chain operations in coordination with the procurement and SCM teams, ensuring optimal raw material availability, inventory levels, and vendor performance to support uninterrupted production.
· Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and institutional customers, identifying opportunities to strengthen reliability, quality, and cost competitiveness.
· Ensure seamless cross-functional coordination across PPC, HR, Admin, Maintenance, Quality, and Materials teams, fostering a culture of ownership, communication, and shared accountability.
Team Leadership & Manpower Planning
· Design and own the plant’s organisational structure—defining roles, JDs, KPIs, and reporting lines—ensuring the right talent is deployed at every level to meet operational objectives.
· Approve and govern manpower planning across all plant functions, ensuring headcount is optimised relative to capacity, output targets, and cost budgets.
· Build a high-performance plant leadership team through structured development, multi-skilling, succession planning, and a strong performance management culture.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
· Ensure full statutory compliance across the facility—Factory Act, ESI, PF, Haryana labour laws, and environmental regulations—by owning policy development, implementation, and periodic review.
· Lead a zero-incident safety culture by institutionalising risk assessments, safety audits, incident reporting, and corrective action frameworks across the plant.
· Establish a plant-wide continuous improvement programme, driving regular audits, root cause analysis (RCA), and structured problem-solving to eliminate recurring production issues and quality escapes.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering; MBA in Operations or General Management is strongly preferred.
• 15–20+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5–7 years as a Plant Head or in an equivalent full-plant P&L ownership role. Prior experience in steel fabrication, metal forming, or FMCG/consumer goods manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of running a manufacturing facility end-to-end—with measurable outcomes in cost reduction, productivity improvement, quality enhancement, and team development.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset—comfortable operating at both the board-room and shop-floor level.
• Proficiency in production planning tools and ERP systems; ability to use data and operational dashboards to drive informed decision-making across the plant.
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills—with the ability to influence at the executive level and inspire teams at every level of the organisation. Fluency in Hindi and English (written and verbal) is essential.
