The company serves general trade, modern trade, quick commerce, foodservice and institutional channels through a combination of company managed reefer movement, distribution partners, cold storage facilities and platform warehouses.
As Mercely’s expands its national footprint, we are looking for an experienced logistics leader who can build a reliable, cost-efficient and scalable cold-chain network while protecting product quality throughout the journey from factory to market.
Role Purpose
The Head – Logistics & Cold Chain will be responsible for the end-to-end movement of finished products from manufacturing locations to distributors, cold-storage points, modern-trade customers and quick-commerce fulfilment centres across India.
The role requires strong hands-on expertise in frozen-food logistics, temperature-controlled transportation, fleet and transporter management, warehouse coordination, route planning, cost optimisation and time-bound fulfilment of customer and platform purchase orders.
The person will be expected to create a nationally scalable logistics system that achieves high service levels without compromising product quality, temperature integrity or commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities
- Pan-India Logistics: Manage end-to-end product movement from factories to distributors, cold storages, hubs and key accounts across India.
- Cold-Chain Integrity: Ensure temperature compliance and proper frozen-product handling throughout loading, transit, storage and delivery.
- Q-Commerce & Modern Trade: Execute time-bound deliveries while meeting platform requirements for slots, POs, ASNs, invoices, shelf life and inwarding.
- Fleet & Transporters: Optimise company-owned and contracted reefer fleets through strong vendor management, SLAs and vehicle-utilisation controls.
- Planning & Coordination: Align Production, Dispatch, Sales, Q-Commerce, Quality and Finance for uninterrupted and timely product availability.
- Cost & Productivity: Reduce freight costs, underloaded trips, damages, delays and returns through route consolidation and commercial negotiations.
- Systems & Reporting: Implement shipment tracking, temperature monitoring, proof of delivery, exception alerts and management dashboards.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead an accountable logistics team while training employees, drivers, transporters and distributors in cold-chain discipline.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years of managerial experience in logistics, supply chain or distribution with proven pan-India exposure.
- Experience in cold-chain industries such as ice cream, frozen foods, dairy, seafood or pharmaceuticals is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of reefer transportation, cold storage, temperature control and frozen-product handling.
- Experience managing company-owned fleets, third-party transporters, warehouses and distributor networks.
- Exposure to Q-commerce, modern trade or large retail fulfilment operations is preferred.
- Proficiency in logistics documentation, ERP/TMS, GPS tracking, Excel and performance reporting.
- Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or Commerce; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
