We are partnering with a leading business consulting and services firm to hire a Legal Head to be based in Mumbai.
Our client is a human capital and advisory firm specializing in executive search, leadership hiring, and talent strategy. The firm partners with organizations across sectors including real estate, financial services, technology, startups, and consumer businesses.
Role Overview:
This role will lead the organization’s legal and contractual governance with a focus on tender evaluation, concession risk assessment, dispute management, and regulatory compliance. The role ensures identification and mitigation of legal, commercial, and financial risks across bids, contracts, and strategic agreements while driving standardized legal processes, safeguarding business interests, and enabling compliant, commercially sound decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the legal function with focus on tender evaluation, concession risk assessment, and dispute management
- Identify legal and commercial risks in concession and tender documents
- Provide structured, actionable feedback to internal teams and airport authorities
- Build standardized legal processes across the organization
Tender & Concession Risk Review (Core Priority)
- Review RFQs/RFPs and concession agreements
- Identify adverse clauses, risks, and financial exposure areas
- Prepare structured risk notes and support pre-bid queries
- Ensure compliant and consistent tender submissions
Standardization & Legal Process Excellence
- Develop frameworks and checklists for tender review
- Standardize risk identification and escalation processes
- Drive documentation consistency across bids
Post-Award Contract Oversight
- Ensure agreements align with bid assumptions
- Highlight residual risks post-award
- Support contract interpretation during lifecycle
Litigation & Dispute Management
- Oversee litigation, especially with government agencies
- Manage arbitration strategy and external counsel
- Assess litigation vs settlement decisions
Public Company Legal Oversight
- Support governance and regulatory compliance
- Work with Company Secretary on board and disclosure requirements
- Advise senior management on legal risk
Commercial & Strategic Agreement Review
- Review brand, airline, and banking agreements
- Ensure alignment with organization risk framework
IP, International & Contract Governance
- Own IP protection (trademarks, brand and proprietary rights), ensure compliance with international and cross-border legal requirements, and lead end-to-end contract lifecycle management with strong risk, compliance, and commercial governance
Regulatory & Licensing Support
- Support licensing and regulatory matters
- Monitor regulatory changes impacting operations
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Manage legal team and external counsel
- Ensure legal function supports business effectively
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); LLM preferred
- Qualified legal professional with strong experience in corporate, commercial, and contract law
- 12–18 years of relevant experience, preferably in infrastructure, airports, aviation, retail, hospitality, or other concession-based businesses
- Proven expertise in tender/RFP review, concession agreements, contract negotiation, and risk assessment
- Strong experience in litigation, arbitration, and dispute management, particularly involving government or regulatory authorities
- Exposure to public company compliance, corporate governance, and regulatory matters
- Experience in managing external counsel and leading legal teams
- Sound understanding of IP protection, cross border contracts, and international legal compliance
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills
