Objective of the Role: Head of Hardware

To lead and drive the end-to-end hardware strategy, design, and development for EV powertrain systems across 2W, 3W, and emerging LCV platforms, ensuring delivery of high-performance, cost-effective, and reliable solutions aligned with business growth and innovation goals.


The role is accountable for building scalable hardware platforms across low voltage and high voltage systems, enabling faster product development cycles, strong customer alignment, and successful commercialization.


Key Roles & Responsibilities


Hardware Strategy & Ownership

  • Own the overall hardware architecture and roadmap for EV powertrain systems.
  • Define and drive technology direction in:
  • Power Electronics (Converters, Inverters)
  • Motor Control Units (MCU)
  • High Voltage platforms
  • Align hardware development with business strategy, product roadmap, and customer requirements


End-to-End Product Development

  • Lead complete lifecycle:
  • Concept → Design → Development → Validation → SOP → Sustenance
  • Ensure delivery of:
  • High efficiency and performance
  • Cost-optimized BOM
  • Robust and reliable systems
  • Drive platform-based development for scalability across 2W / 3W / LCV / HCV segments


Power Electronics & High Voltage Expertise

  • Lead development of:
  • Power converters and inverters
  • High voltage systems (critical requirement)
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Thermal management requirements
  • EMI/EMC standards
  • Automotive safety and regulatory norms


Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and mentor a 40-member hardware organization, including:
  • 2–3 senior leaders (DGM / GM level)

Oversee structured teams:

  • Low Voltage Systems (2W & 3W – MCU / Powertrain)
  • High Voltage Systems (2W, 3W, LCV)
  • New Product Development (NPD)
  • Build strong technical depth and succession pipeline within the team.


Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
  • Embedded Software
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Vehicle Integration
  • Manufacturing & Quality teams
  • Ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and mechanical systems.


Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the technical interface for customers:
  • Participate in design discussions and solutioning
  • Translate customer requirements into product specifications
  • Collaborate with internal leadership including R&D Head and CEO on strategic initiatives.


Design Review, Validation & Quality

  • Design reviews and technical governance
  • DV/PV validation processes
  • Ensure: Product reliability and durability, Compliance with automotive standards and regulations, Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement for field issues.


Innovation & New Product Development

  • Drive innovation in:
  • Next-gen power electronics
  • High voltage architectures
  • Lead NPD initiatives ensuring:
  • Faster time-to-market
  • Competitive differentiation


Manufacturing Readiness & Industrialization

  • Ensure design for:
  • Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Scalability and cost efficiency
  • Support smooth transition from development to production (SOP).


Business Alignment & Performance Delivery

  • Align hardware programs with:
  • Business goals
  • Cost targets and timelines
  • Contribute to:
  • Product profitability
  • Organizational growth


Candidate Requirement:


  • Bachelor’s / Master’s in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics
  • 18–25+ years of experience in automotive / EV domain
  • Mandatory experience in EV (2W / 3W / LCV segments)
  • Strong expertise in Power Electronics (Converters, Inverters, Motor Controllers)
  • Hands-on experience in Motor Control Units (MCU)
  • Mandatory exposure to High Voltage systems
  • Experience in end-to-end product development (concept to SOP)
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal management, and reliability engineering
  • Exposure to automotive standards (ISO, safety, validation processes)
  • Proven experience in leading large engineering teams (~50+ members)
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration (Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing)
  • Experience in customer-facing roles and technical discussions
  • Proven track record in NPD (New Product Development) and innovation
  • Exposure to platform-based development across multiple vehicle segments
  • Strong program management and delivery orientation (time, cost, quality)
  • Experience in supplier/vendor management and localization initiatives
  • Ability to align R&D initiatives with business and product strategy
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and team-building capabilities
