Looking for a Head of Finance to lead the full finance charter for an Edtech company. This role requires a finance leader with a strong foundation in business finance, controllership, compliance, planning, and governance, who is equally comfortable driving strategic decision-making and building structured, scalable processes.
The ideal candidate should be an MBA + CA, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, partner closely with founders and business leaders, and ensure strong financial rigor while enabling growth and revenue delivery. This role will operate at a Director level, reporting directly to the CEO and leading a lean team of 5 members.
The role demands a hands-on leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, operate with high ownership, and build structure in an evolving and fast-growing environment.
What this role will own
- Lead the overall finance function, covering business finance, controllership, FP&A, accounting, compliance, taxation, treasury, audit, and governance
- Partner with business and leadership teams to drive financial planning, revenue tracking, profitability improvement, and decision support
- Build and strengthen financial controls, processes, MIS, and reporting frameworks to support scale
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), variance analysis, and actionable business insights for leadership review
- Lead financial modelling initiatives to support growth, profitability, expansion planning, and strategic decision-making
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements, books of accounts, internal controls, and statutory compliance
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital planning, and financial risk management
- Manage and oversee accounts payable & receivable processes along with taxation, GST, audit, and due diligence activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, HR, and leadership to ensure revenue and business goals remain on track
- Support strategic initiatives including fundraising, board reporting, IPO readiness, investor diligence, and business expansion planning where required
- Drive finance transformation by bringing structure, governance, and operational discipline into an evolving or relatively unorganized environment
- Build trust-based relationships with business leaders while acting as a strong advisor on financial and commercial decisions
What we are looking for
- Strong exposure across all facets of finance, with hands-on experience in both business finance and controllership
- Strong understanding and oversight of accounts payable, receivable, taxation, GST, audit, and due diligence processes
- Proven career progression and growth within the business finance function
- Strong experience in AOP planning, financial modelling, budgeting, and profitability management
- Demonstrated experience in building, managing, or improving EBITDA-positive businesses
- Exposure to IPO filing, IPO readiness, or transitioning organizations into a pre-IPO stage will be highly preferred
- Experience working directly with Founders, CEOs, or leadership teams in high-growth environments
- Proven ability to operate in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with strong judgment and quick decision-making
- Strong understanding of finance processes, systems, controls, governance, and compliance requirements
- Comfortable operating hands-on in a lean environment while simultaneously building scalable finance structures
- Demonstrates high integrity, sound judgment, and maturity in handling confidential business information
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability with the ability to build trust, challenge constructively, and guide leaders on business decisions
- Ability to bring structure, governance, and process discipline within evolving or ambiguous business environments
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build, guide, and elevate lean finance teams
