Our client is looking for a commercially driven Head of Finance to lead the finance function for a fast-growing D2C consumer brand. This role goes beyond accounting and compliance—you will be a strategic business partner responsible for financial planning, profitability, fundraising readiness, cash flow management, inventory controls, and enabling data-driven business decisions.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a high-growth D2C, e-commerce, consumer goods, or retail business and understands the unique financial complexities of inventory-led businesses, online marketplaces, quick commerce, and omnichannel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Business Partnering
- Partner with the Founder and leadership team to define financial strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
- Drive profitability analysis across brands, categories, channels, and SKUs.
- Build robust financial models for expansion, new product launches, pricing strategies, and investments.
- Provide commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Develop MIS dashboards and business performance reports.
- Monitor revenue, margins, contribution, EBITDA, and working capital metrics.
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Own cash flow planning and forecasting.
- Optimize receivables, payables, and inventory financing.
- Manage banking relationships and treasury operations.
- Ensure adequate liquidity while supporting aggressive growth plans.
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
- Oversee financial accounting, month-end and year-end closures.
- Ensure compliance with Ind AS, GST, Income Tax, Companies Act, and statutory requirements.
- Strengthen internal controls and financial governance.
- Coordinate statutory, tax, and internal audits.
Inventory & Supply Chain Finance
- Monitor inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
- Analyze inventory ageing, slow-moving stock, and write-offs.
- Improve inventory turns and working capital efficiency.
- Partner with supply chain and operations to optimize procurement and manufacturing costs.
Commercial Finance
- Evaluate pricing strategies, discounts, promotions, and channel profitability.
- Analyze customer acquisition costs (CAC), customer lifetime value (LTV), contribution margins, and unit economics.
- Review marketing spends and return on investment across digital channels.
- Support negotiations with vendors and strategic partners.
Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Prepare investor-ready financial models and presentations.
- Support due diligence processes.
- Manage interactions with investors, banks, auditors, and financial advisors.
- Build financial reporting frameworks suitable for future fundraising.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead the finance and accounts team.
- Drive automation, process improvements, and adoption of finance systems.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Desired Experience
- CA (Chartered Accountant) is mandatory; MBA (Finance) is an advantage.
- 10–15 years of progressive finance experience.
- Prior experience in D2C, consumer products, FMCG, retail, e-commerce, quick commerce, or omnichannel businesses is strongly preferred.
- Experience in high-growth or venture-backed businesses is highly desirable.
- Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting, and business scaling will be an advantage.
