Role overview
The Head Accountant will lead the finance and accounts function across a group of manufacturing companies. The
role is responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts, ensuring statutory compliance, managing audits, and
providing financial insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Tally Prime
and SAP, with a strong understanding of manufacturing-sector accounting.
Key responsibilities
Accounts & bookkeeping
● Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across all group entities
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in Tally Prime and SAP
● Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
● Ensure proper recording of inter-company transactions across group companies
● Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes
Manufacturing-specific accounting
● Manage cost accounting including raw material consumption, work-in-progress, and finished goods
valuation
● Monitor and reconcile inventory records with physical stock across plant and warehouse locations
● Track and account for freight, logistics, and dispatch-related costs
● Oversee costing of production batches and variance analysis against standard costs
Taxation & compliance
● Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9), TDS, and advance tax
● Manage input tax credit (ITC) reconciliation and ensure compliance with GST regulations
● File ITC-04 for goods sent to and received from job workers, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance
● Manage GST TDS deductions, deposits, and reconciliation with GSTR-7 filings
● Liaise with tax consultants for income tax assessments and filings
● Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements and ROC filings
Audit & controls
● Coordinate and manage statutory audits, internal audits, and tax audits
● Implement and monitor internal financial controls across group entities
● Ensure timely preparation of financial statements — P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
● Address audit queries and ensure audit closure within defined timelines
MIS & reporting
● Prepare monthly MIS reports covering profitability, cost analysis, and cash flow for management review
● Provide entity-wise and consolidated financial reporting across the group
● Track working capital, debtors, and creditors ageing and present actionable insights to leadership
● Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Team & systems management
● Lead and mentor the accounts team across group entities
● Drive adoption and optimal use of Tally Prime and SAP across the function
● Standardise accounting processes and chart of accounts across all group companies
● Coordinate with operations, logistics, and procurement teams for accurate and timely accounting inputs
Requirements
● B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter or equivalent; CA / CMA qualification preferred
● 8–12 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role
● Hands-on expertise in Tally Prime — voucher entry, inventory, cost centres, GST module
● Working knowledge of SAP (FI/CO modules preferred) — journal entries, cost centre accounting,
reporting
● Strong understanding of GST, TDS, GST TDS, and direct tax compliance
● Experience filing ITC-04 and managing job work accounting
● Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is essential
● Familiarity with cost accounting, inventory valuation, and production accounting
● Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
● Ability to manage multiple entities and handle high transaction volumes
Preferred
● Experience with group consolidation and inter-company reconciliations
● Prior exposure to ERP migration or Tally-to-SAP transitions
● Knowledge of export/import accounting and foreign exchange transactions
