Job details:
Our client, a Bangalore-based family office, is looking for a seasoned investment professional to work closely with the family in leading the development and execution of their investment portfolio across both listed equities and alternative assets. The role also carries a strong mandate to bring structure and institutional discipline to the family office, including building scalable systems and processes as the platform continues to grow.
Responsibilities include:
- Drive the investment strategy for the family office emphasising listed equities across sectors, while integrating private equity and alternative assets with a cohesive portfolio-level view
- Bring organisational structure and operational rigour to the family office — establish clear investment frameworks, governance processes, reporting standards, and team workflows that enable the office to function with institutional-grade efficiency
- Lead meaningful research into sectors of interest, formulate investment theses, and track market data and trends to generate actionable insights — with the ability to shift seamlessly between granular, deep-dive analysis and high-level strategic perspective
- Lead an investment team of 5–6 people in due diligence efforts and assist in post-investment engagement with portfolio companies where required
- Ideate and implement strategies for capital allocation and liquidity management, with a target to deliver 18–20% annualised returns
- Engage actively with the investment ecosystem — across both listed equities and private equity — and cultivate a curated network of founders, fund managers, advisors, and sector specialists relevant to the firm's thesis; demonstrated ability to source proprietary deal flow will be a strong differentiator
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- 12–15 years of prior experience working in a PMS fund, mutual fund, family office, or a late-stage private equity fund
- Strong domain knowledge across both listed and unlisted asset classes, with fluency in the distinct dynamics, due diligence frameworks, and valuation approaches applicable to each
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively alongside the existing team and present clearly to the principal
- Demonstrated ability to see the bigger picture and help position the firm strongly within its spheres of focus
MUST-HAVE ATTRIBUTES
- Comfort operating in unstructured environments — and the instinct to bring structure where it is lacking
- Clarity of thinking: the ability to synthesise complexity into clear, well-reasoned perspectives and decisions
- Strong leadership skills: capable of managing and developing a small team while maintaining high standards of output
- Deep domain knowledge spanning both listed and unlisted investment spaces
- Well-networked within the relevant ecosystem — across founders, fund managers, advisors, and sector experts — with the ability to source proprietary opportunities through relationships
- Analytical depth combined with strategic breadth: equally comfortable in a detailed financial model and in a high-level portfolio review conversation
