Our client is a leading international investment group headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, with a diversified portfolio across multiple sectors. The group holds a dominant position in Asia and maintains a strong strategic focus on software development and the Gaming industry.
To accelerate expansion into new global markets (LatAm, Europe, Africa), they are establishing a new high-caliber engineering division and are seeking a visionary Head of Engineering to build it from the ground up.
🎯 Position Overview
This is a foundational executive leadership role responsible for building and scaling a full-stack engineering division of approximately 40 engineers (ReactJS & Java).
The ideal candidate is a rare hybrid:
- Strategic technology leader
- Deeply hands-on architect & coder
- Proven builder of distributed, high-performance engineering teams
You will own the technical vision, architecture, and execution of globally scalable, high-traffic platforms supporting the company’s market expansion strategy.
🏗 Key Responsibilities1️⃣ Strategic Leadership & Division Build-Out
- Define and execute the technical vision aligned with business expansion objectives.
- Architect the structure of a distributed engineering organization (~40 engineers).
- Lead global hiring strategy and talent acquisition roadmap.
- Establish remote-first engineering culture, governance, processes, and best practices.
2️⃣ Technical Ownership (Hands-On Leadership)
- Architect scalable, secure, high-availability systems for global products.
- Write and review critical production-level code in:
- ReactJS (Frontend)
- Java – Spring / Spring Boot (Backend)
- Drive major technology and architecture decisions.
- Own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ensure systems are scalable, low-latency, and optimized for high concurrent traffic.
3️⃣ Team Management & Organizational Development
- Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers.
- Drive performance management, career development, and succession planning.
- Manage departmental budgets, workforce planning, and vendor relationships.
- Foster an inclusive, results-driven, high-accountability remote culture.
✅ Required Qualifications🔹 Leadership & Scale
- 10+ years in software engineering
- 5+ years in senior engineering leadership (Head/Director level)
- Managed teams of ~40 engineers (distributed/global preferred)
🔹 Deep Technical Expertise (Non-Negotiable)
- Expert-level proficiency in ReactJS ecosystem
- Advanced hands-on expertise in Java (Spring/Spring Boot)
- Strong system design and architecture experience
🔹 Execution & Ownership
- Built and scaled engineering teams from scratch
- Owned end-to-end delivery of complex, customer-facing products
- Experience operating in remote-first environments
⭐ Nice-to-Have
- Background in Gaming / FinTech / High-transaction platforms
- Experience with low-latency, high-concurrency systems
- Ability to bring an existing pod/team (5–15 engineers)
- Experience working with or understanding global expansion markets (e.g., LatAm, Europe, Africa) is a strong advantage.
