Job Description
We are looking for a strategic engineering leader to serve as the Head of Engineering and Site lead for our India Engineering Center. This critical role involves building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, collaborating with global stakeholders, and driving the delivery of innovative products and platforms. You will play a key role in shaping the India center’s contributions to the company’s success while being a trusted partner to the executive leadership team.
Job responsibilities
Leadership and strategy:
- Lead, inspire, and grow a high-performing engineering organization of 50+ engineers and managers, covering functions such as software development, DevOps, and data engineering.
- Partner closely with the executive team to define and execute the company’s engineering strategy, aligning India center goals with overall business objectives.
- Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor to global stakeholders, contributing to technical and organizational decision-making.
- Team building and Talent development:
- Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent, building a team known for its technical excellence and innovation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high emotional intelligence (EQ) to drive engagement and productivity.
- Mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders, supporting their career growth and leadership development.
Global collaboration:
- Work closely with US-based teams and other global engineering hubs to ensure seamless collaboration, alignment, and communication.
- Lead globally distributed teams, leveraging time zone diversity for continuous development cycles.
- Act as a bridge between India and global stakeholders, ensuring that the India center is recognized as a strategic hub for innovation and delivery.
- Product and platform development:
- Oversee the development and delivery of multiple products, platforms, and engineering functions, ensuring high-quality output at speed and scale.
- Optimize for speed, simplification, and consolidation, driving efficiency in engineering operations.
- Leverage data and insights to continuously improve engineering processes and deliverables.
Driving change and innovation:
- Embrace and lead through organizational and technological change, fostering adaptability and resilience in the team.
- Champion the adoption of modern tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance productivity and innovation
Job Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles
- Proven track record of building and leading large teams (50+ engineers/managers) in dynamic and fast-paced environments
- Significant experience in building products, platforms, and engineering teams at scale.
- Prior experience working in/with US-based companies and managing globally distributed teams.
- Ability to influence and build trust with executives, peers, and team members across geographies.
- Skilled at aligning technical initiatives with business objectives, with a strong focus on delivering impact.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders globally.
- Expertise in leading teams through organizational or technological transformation.
- Deep understanding of software development, platform engineering, DevOps, and data engineering.
- Proven ability to balance strategic goals with tactical execution, optimizing for both speed and quality.
