We are hiring a Head of Engineering and Technology to lead this.
ABOUT THE ROLE
TEAL designs and builds precision automation equipment for high-tech manufacturing — pick-and-place machines, assembly automation, laser and dispensing platforms — for Fortune 500 customers who demand exacting standards of throughput, repeatability, and reliability. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Titan Company Limited and part of the Tata Group.
We are building toward a more product-led, platform-oriented future — one where our equipment integrates hardware, software, and sensing more tightly, and where AI-assisted inspection and process control become part of what we ship. To lead this, we are looking for a Head of Technology in electronics, semiconductors and battery who can own what TEAL builds, raise the technical bar, and hold both near-term execution and longer-term product thinking at the same time. This is an entrepreneurial role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Product & Systems Architecture (Primary) · Lead full lifecycle design of automation equipment — from architecture through validation and commissioning. Product mindset essential. · Own mechanical architecture, motion systems, electro-mechanical integration, and component strategy end-to-end. · Set standards for CAD, drawings, BOMs, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFX practices. · Standardise design libraries and tools to reduce concept-to-design turnaround. · Coordinate with offshore design teams in Asia to accelerate capability.
2. Software, Control & Intelligence (High Priority) · Define software architecture for machine control: HMI, data acquisition, real-time process control, diagnostics. · Provide architectural direction for PC-based control platforms (C#, Python, or equivalent). · Drive integration of robotics, machine vision, force-torque sensing, and industrial protocols (EtherCAT, OPC-UA). · Evaluate and adopt emerging paradigms: ROS2, simulation-in-the-loop, and AI-assisted process optimisation.
3. R&D Platform Leadership Lead engineering delivery across TEAL's active R&D platforms, each supported by a dedicated Product Manager. Research initiatives may be co-located with leading Indian research institutes.
· Process Technology Platforms: Engineering for automation equipment across joining processes. Process development, machine architecture, and partner integration across EV battery, electronics, semiconductor, and precision manufacturing. · Vision AI Platform: Lead TEAL's machine vision and inspection platform for electronics, semiconductor, EV battery, and medtech manufacturing. Build a team of vision engineers, AI/ML specialists, and software developers. · Applied AI Initiatives: Champion AI adoption across TEAL's product lines — machine monitoring, intelligent diagnostics, digital twins, and engineering productivity tooling.
4. Next-Generation Product Innovation · Build capability to deliver adaptive automation — machines that sense, learn, and self-optimise. · Champion simulation-first design and digital twin methodologies to reduce prototype cycles. · Track and adopt the evolving physical AI toolchain: simulation-based training, synthetic data, imitation learning.
5. Team Building & Engineering Culture · Recruit and build teams across four concurrent R&D platforms — mechanical, process, mechatronics, AI/ML, and software engineers. · Establish engineering culture: design reviews, software best practices (version control, CI/CD, code review), and hardware-software validation. · Mentor talent with a long-term view on capability building and retention. · Develop engineering centres in offshore locations including Vietnam, Malaysia, and other Asian markets.
6. Execution & Stakeholder Leadership · Serve as TEAL's primary technical voice with customers and partners — including global leaders in semiconductors, consumer electronics, and advanced manufacturing. · Own project execution from concept to commissioning with full accountability for schedule, performance, and quality. · Shape TEAL's product roadmap and technology investment strategy alongside business leadership.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience · 15+ years of engineering leadership with strong foundations in precision mechanical and automation system design. Experience in industries involving integration of mechanical, electronics, and software platforms counts equally. · Track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary automation products from concept to customer acceptance. · Experience leading teams of 10+, spanning hardware and software disciplines. · Startup experience (Series B and beyond) in product/platform companies strongly encouraged. · Familiarity with PC-based control architectures, robotics middleware, and the modern automation software stack. · Prior exposure to electronics, semiconductor, EV battery, or precision assembly manufacturing preferred. Candidates from medical devices, aerospace, or advanced metrology are equally welcome.
Technical Depth · Strong mechanical fundamentals: mechanisms, kinematics, actuators, pneumatics, structural analysis, GD&T. · CAD proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent. Experience implementing PLM systems. · Working knowledge of control logic, machine safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62061), and PC/PLC architectures. · Hands-on understanding of industrial robotics, vision systems, and multi-axis motion platforms. · Genuine curiosity about how AI and machine learning are converging with physical automation.

Preferred Background · Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related discipline. Experience and attitude matter more than the specific degree. · Exposure to manufacturing ecosystems in Taiwan, Japan, China, South Korea, or Southeast Asia.
