We are looking for someone who doesn’t just manage engineering—but builds systems, teams, and culture from scratch.
Role: Head of Engineering
We are looking for a 12+ years experienced engineering leader with a strong background in Machine Learning / AI Engineering, who can own the end-to-end technology vision and execution at KGen.
What You’ll Own
1. Technology Vision & Architecture
- Define and drive the overall tech roadmap aligned with business goals
- Build scalable systems across AI/ML, backend, and data infrastructure
- Make key decisions on build vs buy, architecture, and tech stack
2. AI / ML Engineering Leadership
- Lead development of ML models, pipelines, and AI-driven features
- Translate business problems into AI-first solutions
- Build strong foundations in:
- Model deployment (MLOps)
- Data pipelines
- Real-time inference systems
3. Team Building (Critical)
- Hire and build a high-quality engineering team from scratch
- Set the bar for:
- Code quality
- Ownership
- Speed of execution
- Mentor senior engineers and create future leaders
4. Execution & Delivery
- Bring structure to ambiguity without slowing things down
- Drive fast, high-quality releases
- Balance speed vs scalability vs product needs
5. Cross-functional Leadership
- Work closely with:
- Founders
- Product
- Design
- Act as a bridge between business and engineering
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have
- 12+ years of experience in engineering
- Strong background in:
- Machine Learning / AI Engineering
- Scalable backend systems
- Experience in building and leading high-performing teams
- Hands-on mindset (not just a people manager)
Good to Have
- Experience in gaming, consumer tech, or high-scale startups
- Exposure to:
- Recommendation systems
- Personalization engines
- Real-time systems
- Prior experience in 0→1 or early-stage startups
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
- Built a strong core engineering team
- Defined and executed clear tech roadmap
- Launched AI-led features/products
