Role OverviewWe are hiring a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization in India. This role is built for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment - where thoughtful planning, lean execution, and making every resource count are as important as technical excellence.
You will be the primary bridge between the CTO's technical vision and the day-to-day realities of business, product, and partnership teams. You'll own architecture, guide teams, and ensure engineering consistently delivers against what the business needs - not just what's technically interesting.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership- Own the overall system architecture and ensure engineering decisions align with product and business goals
- Lead hands-on development when required - this is not a purely managerial role
- Define and enforce engineering best practices: code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, documentation standards, and post-mortems
- Make smart build-vs-buy decisions and architect for efficiency, not just scale
- Optimize infrastructure cost and performance, with a sharp eye on unit economics
Business Alignment & Execution- Serve as the primary engineering interface for business, product, ad tech, and OEM partnership teams
- Translate business priorities into sprint plans and quarterly engineering roadmaps
- Run quarterly and sprint-level planning sessions aligned to business OKRs
- Present engineering status, delivery risks, and resource needs to leadership regularly
- Ensure the engineering team is always working on the highest-impact priorities, not just the most technically interesting ones
People Management & Org Health- Define the engineering org structure, roles, and career ladders
- Set clear KPIs and KRAs for each engineer and team lead; run quarterly reviews and annual appraisals
- Conduct regular 1:1s to mentor, unblock, and guide individual contributors
- Own performance improvement plans (PIPs) for underperformers and make resource decisions with accountability
- Build a culture of feedback, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team
Hiring, Planning & Resource Management- Own the end-to-end hiring pipeline - job descriptions, interview panels, and offer structuring
- Forecast headcount needs 2–3 quarters ahead based on the product roadmap
- Plan carefully for full-time vs. contractor tradeoffs to keep the team lean and effective
- Manage the engineering budget - salaries, tooling, and infrastructure

What We're Looking For- 10-15 years of software engineering experience, with at least 4–5 years in a leadership role
- Strong hands-on proficiency in relevant technologies (Kotlin/Java for Android TV, Node.js, React, cloud infrastructure)
- Proven track record of delivering products end-to-end - from architecture to production
- Experience managing and growing engineering teams, including setting KPIs, running reviews, and making hiring decisions
- Someone who plans carefully, prioritizes ruthlessly, and gets more done with a focused, talented team than others do with large ones
- Strong communication skills - comfortable working with both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and engineering metrics

Nice to Have- Experience in the Android based OTT, TV or connected device ecosystem
- Familiarity with Android TV/AOSP development
- Background in ad tech, programmatic advertising, or VAST/VPAID integrations
- Experience building products from the ground up in a lean, high-velocity team where you wore multiple hats
- Prior experience working with distributed or remote engineering teams
