Job details:
Head of Engineering – Full Stack & Applied AI
Founding Team | Airawath | India
Location: India, preferably Hyderabad or Bangalore
Role Type: Full-time | Founding Team
Company: Airawath
Website: https://www.airawath.com
Airawath is building an AI-native consumer platform at the intersection of events, gifting, vendor marketplace, fintech-style workflows, relationship intelligence, and personalized recommendations.
We are hiring a Head of Engineering – Full Stack & Applied AI to join our founding team and lead the technical execution of Airawath’s product vision. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can architect, build, scale, and lead high-quality engineering execution across web, mobile, AI, marketplace, payments, graphics, and intelligent automation systems.
This is not a traditional engineering manager role. We are looking for a builder-leader who can code, architect, hire, mentor, review, and ship fast.
What You Will Own
- Lead end-to-end engineering for Airawath’s web, mobile, backend, AI, marketplace, and automation systems.
- Architect and scale a high-quality consumer platform using Python, Next.js, Flutter, and AWS.
- Build and manage engineering systems for invitations, gifting, RSVP workflows, vendor marketplace, user profiles, payments, recommendations, and intelligent event workflows.
- Build and scale AI recommendation systems, especially around gifting, vendors, user preferences, relationships, events, and personalized experiences.
- Design and implement agentic AI systems that can execute end-to-end business workflows, automate decision pipelines, and improve user experience.
- Lead engineering execution across B2C, B2B2C, marketplace, fintech-style, and social/community product flows.
- Drive architecture decisions around APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, security, performance, observability, analytics, and scalability.
- Work closely with the Founder on product strategy, technical roadmap, AI roadmap, hiring, execution priorities, and company-building.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team in India.
- Establish engineering standards, code quality, sprint discipline, architecture reviews, release processes, and production monitoring.
- Move fast without compromising product quality, reliability, security, or user experience.
Must-Have Background
We are looking for someone who has built and scaled real products, not just managed teams.
The ideal candidate should have strong domain expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- E-commerce / Vendor Marketplace
- Fintech / Payments / Wallets / Transactional Systems
- Social Media / Community / Consumer Engagement Applications
- Consumer Mobile or Web Platforms
- AI-powered personalization or recommendation platforms
Required Experience
- Prior engineering leadership experience in a high-growth startup, unicorn-level startup, or FAANG-style product company.
- Proven ability to deliver products fast while building scalable architecture.
- Hands-on experience leading full-stack product engineering teams.
- Strong experience with consumer applications, marketplace systems, or high-scale transactional platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous, early-stage startup environment.
- Strong product thinking, not just technical execution.
- Prior experience building or leading engineering for platforms with real users, real transactions, and real production scale.
- Strong ability to hire, mentor, and manage engineers while still staying close to the code and architecture.
Core Technology Stack
Experience with our current or similar stack is strongly preferred:
- Python
- Next.js / React
- Flutter
- AWS
- REST APIs / Microservices / Event-driven systems
- PostgreSQL / MySQL / MongoDB / Redis or similar
- CI/CD, cloud deployment, monitoring, logging, and production support
Applied AI Requirements
AI is central to Airawath. We are looking for someone with serious, hands-on applied AI capability.
You should have experience or strong practical understanding of:
- AI recommendation systems
- Personalization engines
- RAG pipelines
- LLM-based product workflows
- Agentic AI systems
- AI workflow orchestration
- Embeddings and vector databases
- Semantic search
- Prompt engineering and structured outputs
- AI evaluation, guardrails, cost optimization, and latency management
- Using OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Hugging Face, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar tools
- Applying AI to real product experiences, not just demos or prototypes
This role requires someone who understands how to use state-of-the-art AI providers and frameworks to build production-grade AI features.
Advanced Technical Areas
Strong plus if you have exposure to:
- WebGPU
- Three.js
- 3D / interactive graphics
- Creative automation
- AI-generated design or visual experiences
- Real-time applications
- Recommendation ranking and reranking
- Marketplace search and discovery
- Payment workflows
- Vendor onboarding and marketplace operations
- Secure user data and privacy-first architecture
What We Are Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you are:
- A hands-on engineering leader who still loves building.
- Someone who has worked in a high-performance product engineering culture.
- Strong in full-stack architecture, applied AI, and consumer product thinking.
- Comfortable making technical decisions with limited information.
- Able to convert founder vision into product architecture and execution.
- Experienced in building platforms from 0 to 1 and scaling from 1 to 10.
- Deeply interested in AI-native product development.
- Obsessed with quality, speed, reliability, and user experience.
- Capable of building a strong engineering culture from the ground up.
Not a Fit If
This role may not be the right fit if:
- You are looking only for a people-management role.
- You have not built production products hands-on.
- Your AI experience is limited to using ChatGPT or basic prompt writing.
- You have not worked in fast-paced product environments.
- You prefer large-company structure over early-stage ambiguity.
- You cannot operate with high ownership and urgency.
- You have only service/project delivery experience without product ownership.
Why Join Airawath
- Join the founding team of an AI-native consumer platform.
- Build across events, gifting, marketplace, fintech-style workflows, personalization, and social/community experiences.
- Own the engineering foundation from the early stage.
- Work directly with the Founder.
- Build and lead a high-quality India engineering team.
- Opportunity to shape product, architecture, AI strategy, and engineering culture from day one.
