Position SummaryThe Head of Business Development will play a critical leadership role in driving the strategic growth and expansion of Minimalist Hotels across India. This role will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, sourcing and evaluating new hotel properties, developing strategic partnerships, negotiating commercial agreements, and expanding the overall brand presence.
The ideal candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, deep knowledge of the hospitality industry, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to execute high-value business opportunities from concept to closure.
This role requires a highly entrepreneurial individual who can balance strategic planning with on-ground execution while working closely with founders, investors, hotel owners, and operational teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Strategic Expansion & Growth- Develop and execute the long-term expansion roadmap for Minimalist Hotels.
- Identify growth opportunities in key domestic markets including TIER 1 destinations, metro cities, TIER 2 CITIES and emerging hospitality hubs.
- Build annual and quarterly expansion strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Evaluate market potential, demand trends, and competitive landscape for new developments.
- Lead the end-to-end hotel acquisition and expansion lifecycle.
2. Hotel Development & Property Acquisition- Identify and source hotel properties suitable for long term leasing, management agreements franchise agreements or operational takeovers.
- Conduct property assessments including location analysis, feasibility studies, operational viability, and revenue potential.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and operations teams during due diligence processes.
- Lead negotiations related to:
- Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs)
- Revenue share models
- Lease agreements
- Franchise agreements
- Strategic partnerships
- Ensure all proposed projects align with brand positioning, operational standards, and profitability benchmarks.
3. Owner & Investor Relations- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with:
- Hotel owners
- Real estate developers
- Landlords
- Hospitality consultants
- Brokers and channel partners
- Investors and financial institutions
- Act as the primary representative of the brand during partnership discussions.
- Develop trust-based long-term relationships to support sustained expansion.
- Manage stakeholder expectations while ensuring commercial viability for the organization.
4. Market Research & Feasibility Analysis- Conduct detailed market intelligence and research across target cities and destinations.
- Analyze:
- Occupancy trends
- ADR and RevPAR benchmarks
- Demand generators
- Competitor positioning
- Tourism and hospitality trends
- Prepare financial models, business cases, and feasibility reports for leadership review.
- Assess operational risks, ROI potential, and scalability opportunities.
5. Brand Positioning & Strategic Partnerships- Drive partnerships that strengthen the visibility and commercial positioning of Minimalist Hotels.
- Identify opportunities for collaborations with:
- Travel companies
- Experience brands
- Co-working and lifestyle brands
- Tourism boards
- Event and entertainment partners
- Explore innovative growth channels and alternate revenue opportunities.
- Contribute towards strengthening brand presence within the hospitality ecosystem.
6. Revenue & Commercial Strategy- Collaborate with operations and revenue management teams to ensure financial feasibility of new projects.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and expansion-related financial planning.
- Monitor commercial performance indicators across upcoming and operational properties.
- Identify opportunities for improving profitability and operational efficiency.
7. Leadership & Team Management- Build, lead, and mentor the business development team.
- Define departmental KPIs and performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, innovation, and execution excellence.
- Ensure smooth coordination between business development, operations, design, finance, and legal departments.
8. Industry Networking & Representation- Represent Minimalist Hotels at hospitality events, networking forums, exhibitions, and investor meetings.
- Develop strong industry visibility and strategic market relationships.
- Stay updated on industry trends, hospitality innovations, and competitor activities.
Desired Candidate ProfileEducational Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Real Estate, or related field.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
Experience Required- 8–12+ years of experience in:
- Hospitality business development
- Hotel expansion
- Real estate partnerships
- Hotel operations strategy
- Asset growth and acquisitions
- Prior experience with hotel brands, lifestyle hospitality companies, co-living brands, or real estate developers preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully closing hospitality deals and scaling operations.
