Key Responsibility Areas
1. Demand Strategy & Team Leadership
- Own demand strategy across traffic, conversion, pricing, assortment & retention
- Build and lead the Demand-Side Category team; define ownership and hiring
- Set playbooks for merchandising, funnel, pricing & assortment
- Coach category managers on P&L, experimentation & stakeholder management
- Personally own highest-GMV/highest-risk categories
2. Platform Merchandising
- Own homepage, navigation & cross-category merchandising
- Drive seasonal/event merchandising calendar
- Define CRM & Marketing demand strategy
- Allocate platform traffic across categories
3. Funnel & Conversion
- Own end-to-end platform funnel
- Identify systemic drop-offs and partner with Product, Tech & Risk to improve conversion
- Define experimentation standards
4. Pricing
- Own pricing governance, competitive pricing & promotion ROI
- Approve major promotional investments
- Balance growth vs. margin with Finance
5. Assortment
- Own assortment health & demand-supply prioritization
- Set standards for demand signals to supply planning
- Drive strategic category & brand launches
6. Planning & Business Ownership
- Own platform GMV, revenue & demand-side P&L
- Consolidate forecasts and lead business reviews
- Prioritize category investments, headcount & leadership focus
7. Customer Experience
- Own retention, repeat purchase & win-back strategy
- Drive improvements in CSAT, NPS, complaints & returns
- Define merchandising/content standards
8. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Product, Tech, Risk, Operations, Finance, CRM & Marketing
- Drive roadmap priorities and resolve cross-functional escalations
9. Analytics
- Own platform dashboards & operating cadence
- Standardize metrics across categories
- Foster a culture of experimentation and data-driven decisions
Requirements
- 12-15+ years in ecommerce, growth, or category management, with at least 3–4 years leading teams.
- Proven ownership of GMV/revenue P&L for a significant portion of a business, not just a single narrow category.
- Experience setting strategy for and managing CRM/Marketing teams without owning their execution tooling directly.
- Strong quantitative fluency — comfortable building and defending a traffic × conversion × AOV model, reading cohort and funnel data, and designing clean experiments even with imperfect tooling.
- Track record of influencing without direct authority across Product, Tech, Risk, Finance, and Marketing.
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage or fast-scaling environment where infrastructure and data maturity are imperfect.
- Strong narrative and communication skills — able to translate data into a story that drives leadership decisions.
