The Role
We're looking for a sharp and driven Head of Content who can own our editorial vision end to end. This isn't a writing job it's a leadership role. You'll set the tone, manage the team, drive the calendar and make sure Waiipod consistently publishes content that our audience actually cares about. You'll be the person who ensures things get done with or without being pushed.
What You'll Own
• Define and drive Waiipod's editorial strategy and content direction
• Manage the content calendar own it, enforce it, evolve it
• Lead and brief the content team journalist, editors and contributors
• Set and maintain the quality bar for everything that goes out
• Identify trending stories and ensure timely, accurate coverage
• Hire and onboard new content talent as the team grows
• Collaborate with the social media team to ensure content translates across platforms
• Report directly to the founder with clear weekly metrics and updates
What We're Looking For
• 4 to 6 years of experience in digital media, journalism or content strategy
• Strong editorial instinct you know a good story when you see one
• Experience managing a team and holding people accountable
• Genuine interest in global current affairs, business and culture
• Excellent written English you can write and edit to a high standard
• Someone who takes ownership without needing to be chased
• Newsroom, digital publication or content startup background preferred
Bonus If You Have
• Experience with international news content
• Understanding of SEO and content distribution
• Experience building editorial processes from scratch
AI knowledge
• Actively uses AI tools to enhance research, content ideation and editorial workflows
• Comfortable with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or equivalent for newsroom research
• Understands how to use AI to scale content output without compromising quality or accuracy
• Can strategise and build AI-assisted editorial workflows for the team
• Stays updated on how AI is reshaping media, journalism and content creation
What We Offer
