Job details:
Why this role exists
Prequate's future depends on the depth of its relationships, not the breadth of its marketing. This role exists to build and hold those relationships across every community that touches the firm: founders and senior operators, past clients and alumni, the wider network of practitioners and experts Prequate works alongside, and Prequate's own people.
This is not a marketing role. It is a community-building role.
What you'll own
- The Prequate Table. A private, invite-only room of senior founders and operators that Prequate manages. Discretion is not optional here. Nothing that happens inside the room leaves it.
- The client and alumni network. People who have worked with Prequate and moved on, or worked with Prequate once and could again. You keep this relationship warm without it ever feeling transactional.
- The board network. People who help Prequate get ahead by solving the most important problems while achieving the impact goal and vision.
- The industry practitioner community. Operators, founders, and specialists in the sectors Prequate serves, who aren't yet close enough to be at the Table but should feel Prequate's presence as substantive, not promotional.
- The talent and expert network. Advisors, freelance analysts, and specialists who extend what Prequate can do. You build and maintain the relationships that let the firm call on real expertise quickly.
- The internal Prequate community. The people who work here. A firm that is serious about community externally has to feel like one internally too.
What you'll actually do
- Events. Plan and run roundtables, dinners, webinars, and offsites. Curate the room, not just the run sheet. Know who should be in a conversation together and why.
- Content. Own the targeted thought leadership, newsletters, and specific insight distribution that keeps these communities engaged between events.
- Platform. Own whatever channel or space these communities live in day to day, whether that's a private member space, an internal tool, or a mix.
- Partnerships and referrals. Build the connective tissue between community members that turns goodwill into introductions, without ever making it feel transactional.
What we're looking for
No formal degree requirement.
We don't care where you studied.
We care what you've built in the past.
5+ years in community management, where "community management" means you were the person accountable for a community's health, not a support function around someone else's programme.
You should have actually built a community from close to nothing and kept it alive. Not a slack channel, or organizing a few mixers for an existing list. You should have built and managed something people showed up for repeatedly, over years, because it was worth their time.
We'd trust this most from one of two backgrounds:
- You've built or run a client or alumni network inside a consulting, advisory, or professional services firm, and understand how to keep a relationship warm without ever pitching it.
- You've built or run a membership organisation or association, and understand the discipline of scarcity, curation, and member trust that makes a room worth being in.
Either way, you should be someone who can sit comfortably in a room of senior founders and operators, host a difficult conversation gracefully, and write well enough to carry a newsletter or a LinkedIn presence on your own.
Judgment and discretion matter more than almost anything else on this list. You will regularly be trusted with information that never leaves the room.
How we'll know it's working, year one
Three things, in this order:
- Originality. Your creativity and incisive thoughts on how to build, manage and spearhead a tight set of relationships into an active community that does good by all its stakeholders.
- Community strength. Real engagement, not vanity numbers: attendance, participation, retention of the people who matter, and whether the room (or network) is getting better, not just bigger.
- Brand authority. Whether Prequate's presence in these communities is translating into inbound interest, thought leadership reach, and the sense among the people who matter that Prequate is a serious, substantive presence in the conversations that matter to them.
Reporting and seniority
Individual contributor role, no team, reporting to leadership.
The title reflects the weight of the room this person owns: they interact directly with senior founders and Prequate partners as an equal presence, not as a coordinator behind the scenes. Whoever takes this on needs to carry that weight in every room they walk into, regardless of where they sit on the org chart.
Location
Bangalore, in person.
The most senior community this role owns is deliberately anchored there to start.
Travel, when required.
