About the Role
Ekam Early Learning Centre, Kompally is looking for a Head of Centre — a single, hands-on leader who combines academic and curriculum leadership with the day-to-day administration, parent relations, and operational management of the centre. This role brings together the responsibilities traditionally split across a Head of Curriculum & Centre Manager and a Parent Relations Manager, and is ideal for someone who can move comfortably between the classroom, the front office, and the boardroom — ensuring both educational excellence and smooth, efficient centre operations.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Academic Leadership
• Determine and organize an age-appropriate curriculum in line with the needs, interests, and developmental stage of the children, in conjunction with the Director.
• Monitor planning, assessment, and delivery of the curriculum across all classes.
• Ensure the physical, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of children are met through consistent routines and staff practices.
• Maintain and develop whole-centre policies in line with Ekam's philosophy and ethos.
• Assist in curriculum documentation, planning, and implementation of the program.
Staff Leadership & Development
• Recommend staffing plans in line with the centre's needs; deploy and manage teaching and ancillary staff.
• Ensure staff have access to advice, supervision, and training appropriate to their needs.
• Supervise staff appraisals and participate in self- and centre-wide performance reviews.
• Train staff where appropriate, including on child protection, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Provide hands-on leadership to all staff and students, fostering high morale and enthusiasm.
Standards of Teaching, Learning & Child Care
• Supervise and monitor the wellbeing of all pupils across physical, social, and behavioural development.
• Define and consistently apply standards of behaviour across the centre.
• Ensure the centre meets international standards of education and welfare at all times.
Parent Relations & Admissions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for parents on academic and administrative matters.
• Maintain effective, timely communication and correspondence with parents to resolve concerns.
• Consult with and update parents regularly on curriculum and their child's progress.
• Maintain student information folders and admission/fee records.
• Drive admissions targets for each class and manage the enrolment process end-to-end.
Marketing
• Lead marketing efforts for the school, including liaison with the Corporate Communications team on messaging and strategy.
• Promote positive relationships with parents, education authorities, social services, and the local community.
Events Planning & Execution
• Conceptualize and oversee all school events, celebrations, and special days aligned with the centre's philosophy and curriculum.
• Work with teachers to integrate events meaningfully into classroom themes and the learning experience.
• Manage end-to-end event execution — planning, coordination, timelines, and delivery quality.
• Coordinate school functions and bring creative ideas to keep events engaging and memorable.
Operations, Facilities & Catering
• Coordinate with housekeeping on all administrative and facilities requirements.
• Supervise food service operations, oversee the weekly menu, and ensure satisfaction.
• Conduct quality checks and internal audits; manage support staff.
• Maintain liaison with local authorities relevant to the centre's smooth functioning.
• Own timetable planning for effective scheduling of the school day; teach classes if required.
Safety & Child Protection
• Ensure strict adherence to child safety, health, and hygiene protocols across the centre at all times.
• Conduct regular checks of classrooms, play areas, and materials for safety.
• Oversee fire drills, evacuation procedures, and general emergency preparedness.
• Ensure constant supervision and wellbeing of children during class time, transitions, and events.
• Implement the centre's child protection policy and procedures, acting promptly on any concerns.
• Ensure security of the premises and adherence to all safety and maintenance standards.
Administration & Finance
• Allocate, control, and account for the centre's financial and material resources.
• Handle purchase orders, invoices, fee receipts, and bills.
• Maintain all records, policy documents, staff guidelines, pupil profiles, and achievement records.
• Ensure proper implementation of timetables and maintenance of the centre's premises and resources.
• Maintain data entry and records for all centre resources.
Key Competencies & Requirements
• Strong leadership and administrative skills, with the ability to manage both academic and operational functions.
• High degree of coordination and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Early Years curriculum and the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
• Familiarity with school admissions processes and school marketing.
• Well versed with school procedures and policy implementation.
• Proficient in documentation using Google Docs/Sheets or Microsoft Word/Excel.
• A calm, hands-on presence who prioritizes child safety and wellbeing above all else.
