Role Overview
The Head of AI Delivery – Life Sciences will lead, scale, and operationalize the India-based AI Delivery Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on delivering advanced AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI solutions for global pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device clients.
This role requires balancing highly innovative AI delivery capabilities with strict adherence to Life Sciences regulatory and compliance standards such as FDA, GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, and EMA requirements. The individual will be responsible for delivery excellence, technical governance, people leadership, capability building, client engagement, and strategic growth support across international markets.
The role demands strong expertise in AI/ML delivery management, Generative AI ecosystems, LLMs, MLOps, and Life Sciences domain knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
1. Global Delivery Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of enterprise-scale AI/ML and Generative AI programs for global Life Sciences clients.
- Ensure projects are delivered within defined timelines, budgets, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Drive efficient Offshore/Global Delivery execution between India-based engineering teams and global consulting/client teams.
- Establish governance frameworks, risk management processes, delivery KPIs, and operational reporting structures.
- Monitor and improve delivery metrics including:
- SLA adherence
- Sprint velocity
- Model performance
- Delivery predictability
- Resource utilization
- Ensure scalable deployment and operationalization of AI systems across enterprise cloud platforms.
2. AI Practice Building & Capability Development
- Build and scale high-performing teams comprising:
- Data Scientists
- ML Engineers
- AI Architects
- MLOps Engineers
- Data Engineers
- Define and execute capability development programs focused on:
- Generative AI
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- AI Agents
- Advanced MLOps
- Manage workforce planning, hiring strategy, bench management, and resource allocation.
- Drive employee engagement, retention, mentorship, and technical leadership initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
3. Life Sciences AI & Regulatory Excellence
- Ensure AI solutions effectively address complex Life Sciences use cases including:
- Clinical trial analytics
- Drug discovery
- Regulatory submissions
- Pharmacovigilance
- Real-world evidence
- Commercial analytics
- Ensure adherence to:
- FDA
- EMA
- GxP
- HIPAA
- GDPR
- Responsible AI standards
- Lead implementation of AI validation, testing, governance, and monitoring frameworks.
- Mitigate risks related to:
- Hallucinations
- Bias

- Review and guide enterprise AI architecture and deployment strategies.
4. Client Engagement & Pre-Sales Support
- Partner with global sales, account management, and consulting teams to support strategic client engagements.
- Participate in client presentations, workshops, and technical solution discussions.
- Lead development of:
- RFP/RFI responses
- Technical proposals
- Architecture blueprints
- Proof of Concepts (PoCs)
- AI accelerators/frameworks
- Support account growth, client retention, and capability positioning initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to create reusable delivery assets and AI frameworks.

Experience Required
- 15+ years of experience in IT Services, Consulting, GCCs, or Technology Organizations.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience leading AI/ML or Data Science delivery teams.
- Experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams (50+ headcount).
- Prior experience working with global clients across US, Europe, and APAC markets.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale AI transformation programs.
Educational Qualification
