Head of AI

I’m currently partnering with a fast-growing global education organisation looking to appoint a Head of AI to lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide AI strategy and innovation initiatives across academic, operational and student-facing platforms.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced AI professional who is passionate about Generative AI, machine learning and digital transformation within large-scale education environments.
The role will focus on building and deploying AI-driven solutions that enhance learning experiences, improve operational efficiency and shape the future of education technology globally.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading AI strategy, innovation and roadmap development across the organisation
• Identifying high-impact AI opportunities across admissions, student services, teaching and operations
• Designing, building and deploying machine learning and Generative AI solutions
• Developing AI pipelines including model training, deployment, monitoring and optimisation
• Integrating AI solutions with LMS, CRM, ERP and enterprise systems
• Driving AI-powered automation, chatbots and intelligent workflow solutions
• Collaborating closely with Data, IT, Academic and Leadership teams
• Supporting responsible AI governance, compliance and ethical AI frameworks
• Delivering training and AI adoption initiatives across academic and operational teams
• Leading AI literacy and transformation programmes organisation-wide
What they’re looking for:
• 10+ years’ experience within AI, Data Science or Machine Learning
• Strong expertise across LLMs, Generative AI and machine learning technologies
• Hands-on experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain and OpenAI APIs
• Experience working with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of MLOps, ETL, APIs and enterprise AI deployment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability
• Strong leadership, innovation and problem-solving mindset
Additional experience of interest:
• Higher Education or EdTech sector experience
• Experience with learning platforms, student lifecycle systems or academic workflows
• Cloud AI certifications beneficial
• Data governance, GDPR and ethical AI experience
