Overview
The Head of AI will lead the design, development, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence solutions to enhance teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations. This role combines technical expertise with a strong understanding of organizational workflows to drive digital transformation, improve outcomes, and increase operational efficiency.
The role works closely with academic, IT, research, and leadership teams to identify AI opportunities, build prototypes, deploy production-ready systems, and ensure responsible, ethical AI adoption aligned with organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
AI Strategy & Innovation
- Define and execute the organization’s AI strategy aligned with operational and academic goals.
- Identify high-impact AI use cases in student success, research support, academic processes, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and propose scalable solutions.
Solution Design & Development
- Build, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning and generative AI models for academic, administrative, and operational applications.
- Design and maintain AI pipelines, including data ingestion, model training, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Integrate AI solutions with existing systems such as LMS, SIS, CRM, ERP, HR systems, and data warehouses.
Data Management & Engineering
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics teams to ensure availability of structured, secure, and high-quality datasets.
- Support data governance, privacy, ethical AI, and compliance with GDPR and equivalent regulations.
- Implement feature engineering, model versioning, and MLOps best practices.
AI for Teaching & Learning
- Assist academic staff in using AI tools for course design, assessment, personalized learning, and content creation.
- Develop training materials, workshops, and best-practice guidelines for staff.
- Collaborate on AI-enhanced learning analytics to support improved student outcomes and retention.
Operational AI & Automation
- Develop AI-driven automation to streamline internal processes, including admissions, marketing, and student support.
- Build chatbots, knowledge assistants, and workflow automations using AI/LLM, RPA, or other relevant tools.
- Support AI adoption across departments via prototypes and proof-of-concept projects.
Governance & Ethical AI
- Ensure responsible and transparent AI practices across the organization.
- Contribute to AI policies, risk assessments, and security frameworks.
- Promote fairness, bias detection, and responsible data handling.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI (LLMs).
- Hands-on experience with Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, LangChain, or cloud AI platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
- Experience deploying AI models in production using MLOps frameworks.
- Experience with data pipelines, ETL, SQL, data warehousing, and API integrations.
- Legally authorized to work in India.

Desirable Experience
