Job details:
The Head – Model Portfolio Solutions will be the intellectual cornerstone of Growthfiniti's investment strategy. This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for designing and managing multi-asset model portfolios, leading research into factor-based and systematic strategies, and translating macroeconomic insights into actionable portfolio decisions. The incumbent will collaborate closely with relationship managers, the CEO, and product teams to deliver differentiated, research-backed investment outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
A. Model Portfolio Construction & Management
▸ Design, build, and continuously optimise multi-asset model portfolios spanning equity, fixed income, gold, and alternative assets.
▸ Develop distinct portfolio sleeves (e.g., conservative, balanced, growth, aggressive) aligned to client risk profiles and investment horizons.
▸ Establish and maintain strategic and tactical asset allocation frameworks, including rebalancing triggers and drift thresholds.
▸ Own the model portfolio review calendar and ensure timely communication of changes to internal stakeholders.
B. Factor-Based & Systematic Strategies
▸ Research, design, and implement quantitative factor strategies — value, momentum, quality, low-volatility, and multi-factor combinations — using the Indian mutual fund and ETF universe.
▸ Build back-tested, live-monitored factor models with clear drawdown controls and performance attribution.
▸ Evaluate and integrate rule-based and smart-beta solutions offered by AMCs and index providers.
▸ Drive adoption of systematic overlays to complement discretionary views.
C. Mutual Fund & Alternatives Research
▸ Conduct in-depth due diligence on mutual fund schemes across categories — equity, debt, hybrid, sectoral, international, and fund-of-funds.
▸ Assess alternate investment vehicles including AIFs (Cat I, II & III), PMS strategies, REITs, InvITs, and structured products.
▸ Build and maintain a curated approved list of funds with qualitative and quantitative scoring.
▸ Track AMC strategy changes, fund manager movements, and regulatory shifts that impact product suitability.
D. Macroeconomic & Market Research
▸ Monitor domestic and global macro variables — RBI policy, inflation, credit cycles, FII/DII flows, currency trends, and geopolitical developments.
▸ Publish periodic investment outlooks, house views, and client-facing market commentary.
▸ Contribute to investment committee discussions with well-argued, data-driven views.
E. Client & Business Engagement
▸ Partner with relationship managers to articulate investment rationale and portfolio positioning to HNI and institutional clients.
▸ Represent the firm in client presentations, webinars, and industry forums.
▸ Support product development for new PMS strategies and managed account offerings.
▸ Assist in preparing regulatory and compliance documentation pertaining to investment strategies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background
▸ CFA Charter holder — mandatory. Active membership in good standing with CFA Institute.
▸ MBA (Finance) from a premier institution (IIM / XLRI / SP Jain / FMS or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
▸ Advanced knowledge of statistics or quantitative finance (FRM / CQF) is a strong plus.
Experience
▸ 6–10 years of progressive experience in asset allocation, fund research, or investment strategy within the Indian financial services ecosystem.
▸ Proven track record of constructing and managing live model portfolios for PMS, AIF, or wealth management mandates.
▸ Hands-on experience developing factor-based and rules-driven investment strategies using Indian market data.
▸ Deep familiarity with SEBI regulations governing mutual funds (SEBI MF Regulations), PMS (SEBI PMS Regulations), and AIFs.
▸ Prior experience at a SEBI-registered PMS, AMC, AIF, or leading wealth management platform is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
▸ Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, or equivalent data platforms for fund analytics.
▸ Proficiency in Excel / VBA for model building; familiarity with Python / R for quantitative research is a distinct advantage.
▸ Strong command of portfolio analytics — Sharpe ratio, alpha, beta, tracking error, maximum drawdown, rolling returns.
▸ Understanding of derivatives (futures, options) as portfolio hedging instruments within SEBI-permitted frameworks.
▸ Familiarity with CRISIL, ICRA, and Value Research fund rating methodologies.
Behavioural Competencies
Intellectual Rigour
Evidence-based thinking; comfort with ambiguity and imperfect data.
Communication Excellence
Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling client narratives.
Strategic Ownership
Operates with a founder's mindset; accountability for outcomes.
Collaborative Leadership
Cross-functional alignment across investment, sales, and compliance teams.
