Head Mechanical – Ductile Iron Pipe Plant, VAB - Sesa Goa

Vedanta is a $30bn revenue and $10bn in profit organization and further plans to invest $20bn in 4-5 years’ time in the expansion of their brown field and some green field capacity of Oil & Gas, Renewable energy, display glass, semiconductor, mining and smelting.
Vedanta’s Sesa Goa Business caters to the requirements of the Iron & Steel supply chain. We produce Iron Ore, Pig Iron and Coke. It comprises of Iron Ore Goa, Iron Ore Karnataka, Iron Ore Odisha, Value Added Business, Sesa Cement and Sesa Coke - Gujarat & Maharashtra. The Sector has a unique competitive advantage of having operations in 5 States.
The Value-Added Business is now marching into its new phase of growth by setting up a Ductile Iron Plant at Amona Goa with Capacity of 0.42 MTPA that will make VAB a $1Bn revenue business and further strengthen its presence into the Iron and Steel Industry.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drives HSE excellence across the plant by enforcing safety policies, EMS standards, and well‑being initiatives while promoting Visual Felt Leadership, CAPA, HIRA, LOTO, and digital safety practices to achieve zero harm and zero discharge.
- Owns and leads the mechanical maintenance strategy for the Hot Zone, Cold Zone, Hydraulics, and Utilities to achieve >98% OEE through preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance systems.
- Conducts detailed breakdown analyses (RCA) and implements permanent corrective actions to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
- Manages mechanical maintenance budgets (OPEX and CAPEX) through efficient planning, cost optimization, and resource effectiveness.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives by upgrading technologies, implementing automation, and adopting digitization and benchmarking practices to achieve operational excellence.
- Builds and nurtures a highly engaged mechanical workforce through talent development, succession planning, and fostering collaborative teamwork across departments.
- Collaborates effectively with suppliers and vendors to ensure robust spare parts planning, inventory optimization, and vendor development.
- Ensures strong cross‑functional coordination to support plant operations and deliver mechanical engineering solutions that strengthen plant performance and reliability.
The Successful Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E./B. Tech)
- 8-15 Years of Experience specific to Ductile Iron Pipe Industry.
