Head of IT Infrastructure & Networks
Role summary
The Head of IT Infrastructure & Networks owns the organization’s end-to-end IT infrastructure, data center operations, enterprise networks, cloud platforms, and core IT operations. The role is typically accountable for designing, implementing, securing, and continuously improving infrastructure services so they remain reliable, scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned to business needs.
This position leads infrastructure strategy as well as day-to-day service delivery across servers, storage, LAN/WAN, virtualization, cloud, cybersecurity controls, backup, disaster recovery, and vendor-managed services. It also drives major infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, rollouts, and modernization initiatives while ensuring service levels, resilience, and governance standards are met.

Role purpose
To lead and manage the organization’s corporate IT infrastructure and network ecosystem, including on-premise, co-located, and cloud environments, ensuring secure, high-performing, highly available, and scalable technology operations that support business growth. The role also ensures prioritization of Employee Experience, Effective IT governance, Vendor management, Service delivery, Compliance audit readiness, and continuous improvement across infrastructure and security operations.
Key responsibilities
- Own the strategy, architecture, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure covering servers, storage, backup, virtualization, compute, and network services.
- Manage and optimize data center and/or co-location operations, including availability, capacity, performance, resilience, recoverability, and technology refresh planning.
- Lead enterprise network operations across LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, internet edge, remote connectivity, VPN, firewalls, and telecommunications services.
- Ensure 24x7 stability of infrastructure services through monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, automation, and continuous service improvement.
- Oversee cloud platforms and hybrid environments, including AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, and virtualization stacks, to improve agility, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Drive cybersecurity controls across infrastructure environments, including firewall governance, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, access controls, vulnerability management, secure remote access, and threat monitoring.
- Establish and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities to protect critical systems and data.
- Lead infrastructure-related projects such as ERP/SAP hosting readiness, data center migrations, cloud transformation, network upgrades, security rollouts, and platform modernization.
- Manage infrastructure vendors, managed service providers, OEMs, and telecom partners, including contract negotiation, SLA governance, performance reviews, and service escalation management.
- Build, lead, and develop infrastructure, network, and operations teams; allocate workloads; strengthen succession planning; and maintain high technical and service management standards.
- Define and enforce infrastructure standards, operating procedures, architectural guardrails, and service management practices aligned with ITIL and enterprise governance needs.
- Partner with business, applications, cybersecurity, audit, procurement, and leadership teams to translate user requirements into robust technical solutions and measurable business outcomes.
- Plan and manage Capex/Opex budgets for infrastructure, renewals, licenses, support contracts, and strategic technology investments, with clear ROI and risk visibility.
- Support compliance, internal audits, and certification programs related to ISO 27001, ISO 9001, SOC 2, HIPAA, and other applicable standards or regulatory frameworks where relevant.
- Champion automation, AI-enabled monitoring, predictive analytics, and process-driven improvements to improve visibility, reduce operational noise, and accelerate response times.

Candidate profile
The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on infrastructure depth with leadership maturity, business alignment, and governance discipline. This person should be comfortable operating across strategic planning, project execution, technical escalation, stakeholder management, and service improvement in complex multi-site or multi-business environments.
Required experience
- 12–15 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, networks, systems, or operations, including substantial experience in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments spanning servers, storage, virtualization, networks, and security technologies.
- Demonstrated ownership of data center operations, hybrid cloud environments, and high-availability infrastructure services.
- Experience leading large infrastructure programs such as migrations, upgrades, ERP/SAP-enablement, cloud adoption, or security transformation initiatives.
- Strong track record in vendor governance, contract management, SLA performance management, and managed service oversight.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance programs, and information security controls in regulated or quality-driven environments.

Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CCNP, Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware, CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or equivalent are advantageous.
